I've also noticed that they have been taking away Redbox kiosks in my area recently. Never seen those email notices before, but then I got 2 kiosk removal notices within a week,
If you enjoy physical media rentals, go out and indulge while you still can. |

When I have tried to watch movies on PlutoTV though, they have seemed to stream in SD for me, so I tend to avoid them for their on-demand stuff. |

Freevee, if it is like how IMDb TV was, is great for ad watching because the ads are usually less than 90 seconds and there are only four of them which you can go through before watching the movie. So when you watch it from the beginning you don't have the interruptions later on. I do that with Hulu a lot too.

I never subscribed to Netflix disc rental, and relied on Blockbuster Video walk in stores, and before that, my old DVD VHS rental video stores for movies until they were gone too. Movie theaters most of all, and I'd buy my favorite movies on VHS, DVD and then blu ray.
The sad thing is, when Netflix and Redbox starting increasing business, I remember thinking more walk in video stores started losing business, but that's the nature of business if I'm not way off with my memory of it. Once Blockbuster was gone, I relied on the bargain bins in Circuit City for new disc "rentals" that I kept for $3 to $5 each and built up a library of over 1000 movie discs over the years. That's too bad Netflix gave up on disc format, but they're probably making way more money with their streaming pay app channel to care about disc fans sadly. I was temporarily subscribed for the 30 day free trial to Netflix, but dumped it before it was time to renew and pay. It was decent but these days, I mostly rely on movie theaters, disc purchases and then Tubi TV for legitimately free video rentals with the only pay being having to watch occasional commercials. There will always be ENDLESS amounts of movies to watch or discover. |
