Can confirm the region lock to A despite no indication whatsoever on the cover.
All in all, this is a solid release and a small step up from the UK Network BD from 2021. Compression on the Music Box is slightly better, but not by much. Network encoded just the original Story of Film on five discs, Music Box crammed it onto three. The problem is that the 1080i presentation on the Network makes the film clips look horrible to look at, likely due to the frame rate conversion. Music Box also cheapened when it comes to the packaging. The discs come in a fold-out digibook with very tight sleeves. It's difficult to get the discs out without fingerprinting them or damaging the digibook. I immediately took them out and stored them in paper sleeves. Very positive though is the booklet with a Cousins interview and a full list of referenced films over the course of the two documentaries. Despite that, I wish they'd given his magnum opus a little more love here and there and delivered a top-notch edition instead of just a solid one. |
