I hear ya, but both Diabolik and Grindhouse charge up front for pre-orders as well. It’s nice to support smaller businesses, so that’s how I end up justifying paying upfront. They’re also very good at ensuring everything is packed well + it’s a lot easier to deal with US-based shops vs overseas if you run into any issues.

Not for me. Colour palette is all wrong. I’m sticking with the other SC.

uh-oh not another color timing situation. I hope I love it as much as the new timing on Picnic at Hanging Rock.

I love it myself. I'm ordering both this and the boxset and will keep my old SC steelbook too
ahh, that makes sense then. My misunderstanding, I automatically thought of color timing for whatever reason. I love the look of this steelbook.

Just pre-ordered from Orbit (first time). The cover art doesn't bother me as much as the SC set but someone should really do a proper release like Anchor Bay did for DVD years ago and package the title in a wooden case.

^^ I have that wooden case release RFK and I agree, that's one of the nicest complimentary pkgs I've seen for a dvd or even a Blu for that matter.
I ordered this purple monster from Amz.uk today and with the VAT removed and shipping applied, came to 44 Quid (to Canada).

Now, one of the issues I've seen from Amz.uk in the past with very limited items, is the 1st ones they cut from the list if they take too many orders, are those to Canada and USA. It's happened to me 3 times in 5 years.
Won't be surprised if they do it again.

Are we so sure that all versions will be 4K UHDs?

No.

Knowing Studiocanal press releases, we likely won't know for sure until we get the discs.

The PR we've already have is contradictory. The way it's worded has some people thinking it says all are 4K, but I think it's more vague and doesn't state anything about them all being on 4K discs. The PR about the restoration also mentioned other cuts come from film prints, but that's questionable as I can't see them finding the DC print and NOT having a big announcement about it.

Is this the exact same release as the other recent Wicker Man 4k announcement? Because the steelbook is actually cheaper?

I guess what I am asking is , what does the collectors edition have that this does not? Just the 64 page book?

Reason I'm thinking is because I do believe some of the elements are missing...

Yes.

Stuff sourced from print should refer to the Final Cut.

The DC print was never found, and is still only known to survive on tape.

They must have dug that road up and found the canisters.

No, the 'Director's Cut' and 'Final Cut' utilise upscaled inserts. I'm afraid it's that or nothing. For the benefit of any who still haven't, every fan must see the Director's Cut. It's been my preferred version -without question- since I first saw it on its broadcast premiere on Channel 4 TV (UK) over the new year bells, 2000/01. I still have my VHS recording!

The Director's Cut is the only version which has
[Show spoiler]not one but two songs, um, "edited" is the polite term, and has introductory scenes on the mainland... not great, not essential, but still interesting in respect of Sergeant Howie, and definitely worth a look. The 'Theatrical Cut' omits one song altogether, and reorders whole scenes.

It is true that some major edits to the original film as shot were made (and subsequently lost, or buried), entirely, even before Christopher Lee was first shown the movie.
