The Powerhouse site lists this as an August 28th (UK) and August 29th (US) release date.

Whomever posted up the Aug 22 date on Scamazon probably just had an embarrassing case of premature anticipation. Likely just overly excited about all the vampire raping on 4k.

If I recall the first 2 Rollin films also got quietly pushed back a week from the original date as well.

I also just got my order update/shipping notice for both 4k releases, moments ago, from Diabolik. Their ears must've been burning. They simply printed out the shipping label, though. We shall see when it actually ships. It's usually a few more days before they hand it off to the carrier. It's a good sign, however.

Was just comparing specs and it looks like they didn't carry over one of the Rollin short films from the Redemption? Two on that one and one on this. Hope they include the other one on one of the other Rollin releases.

If you mean The Yellow Lovers (Les amours jaunes, 1958), that will indeed be included in a future Indicator Rollin release.

And this is a good opportunity to add a note of caution about comparing specs directly with earlier releases, because things like running times won't tell the whole story. For instance, the Jean Rollin/Brigitte Lahaie selected-scene commentary on The Night of the Hunted is notionally a fair bit shorter than has been the case in previous presentations, but that's because our version has been edited far more tightly - you still get every last syllable of the original commentary, but much less in the way of lengthy passages of film soundtrack in between the various discussions that we felt didn't add anything to the viewing experience.

Received mine yesterday but it won't work in my Panasonic. It loads, but no options come up to be able to select play or anything else. Just the artwork shows up.

It will work on my Sony, but the Sony doesn't do Dolby Vision so I'll see about getting a replacement. From the first few seconds of this movie I caught, it looks like a very interesting movie.

I love how Indicator know their product inside-out; their passion for the films is palpable. As a collector, I very much respect that. I've not long been through the Night of the Demon blu-ray thread, and Indicator's enthusiasm is obvious there too. That was one of the best releases of its year, and such effusive zeal from a label clearly goes a long way to delivering outstanding product.

(I typed the question a couple posts above incorrectly so I'll try again.)

Has anyone played their Rape of the Vampire movie in a Panasonic player, if so did it work?

(I have a Panasonic UB820)

UPDATE: I went to try the replacement disc when I discovered my Panasonic player had an update. It updated from firmware 1.69 to 1.76. Of course I was hoping that would fix the issue but it didn't.

The new replacement disc still doesn't play on my Panasonic. So I'm just going to keep the new one (the box is in much better condition like PERFECT) and return the original.

I'm starting to think the issue is the Panasonic doesn't recognize how the disc is formatted. Once loaded, it won't give any play options or any other options at all...it just shows the artwork. When it's loaded onto my Sony UHD Blu-ray player...all the options to play the disc is there.

We're all very proud of this release, and have been delighted with all the positive reactions thus far, the most detailed by some distance being this rave review of the UHD from CineOutsider, which makes the important point that the extras are unusually essential with this particular film, as it's unlikely to make much coherent sense on a first viewing. (Rollin was never an especially narrative-driven filmmaker, and certainly not first time round!)

Quote:
The film that effectively launched and shaped Jean Rollin’s feature film career is given the best of royal treatment by Indicator on this fabulous UHD release, The restoration and transfer are both terrific, and the special features have everything you could really want and more. The film may still divide audiences even today, but I wanted to hug it, and seeing it looking this good and with this level of background detail proved to be the perfect introduction. Highly recommended.

I watched mine (UK copy) a couple of nights ago in an 820 in Dolby Vision and it played flawlessly throughout.

Have you tried a factory reset of the player? No issues for me on 1.69 or 1.76

Hopefully works for me on my UB820 as I have the regionfree firmware mod on it w/ version 1.69 and cannot update it past that now unless I wanna lose my custom firmware. I'll have to try it tonight and report back!
