Paid more but ordered from Umbrella, ordered with Razorback. Maybe it will guarantee a slip for both?

If a slip is pictured on the Umbrella site you should get a slip

Umbrella shipped my copy. Let's see how long it takes this one to arrive - my last order only took just over a week or so. I hope they included the replacement disc with it. Or did they fix the issue before the disc went to press? I haven't been following this release closely.

To be honest, it really looks like an upscaled Blu-ray

Dated master, okay color

Nothing exciting, but nothing wrong with it either, and best version available, if you like the movie.

The compression really beats the pants off the Umbrella blu-ray, it looks more natural in motion, and there's a small uptick in detail. But it's the same SDR master as the Umbrella blu-ray, so set expectations accordingly. It's not a massive upgrade. If you don't have the Umbrella blu already, the new 4k looks good and is the best way to see the film!

I got tired of Criterion not doing anything with this so,purchased it. A pity we couldn’t also get The Plumber as well.

I hope we get that on UHD too at some point, I know it's "just a TV movie" and gets forgotten among Weir's other films, but I really love it, it's a great creepy psychological thriller, kind of his version of a home invasion thriller.

I'm afraid any 4K remaster of it will keep the cropped 1.78 aspect ratio of the BD, but I can live with that.

When I had it before, it was provided as an extra, I believe one of the Weir Criterion releases as I recall.

The Plumber has had at least 3 releases on Blu-ray. Germany: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=207676

Also Japan https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-P...lu-ray/102218/ and France https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B09PMKNG6X/

I have the German release it looks really nice.

The Plumber was included as a bonus feature on the DVD of The Cars that Ate Paris released by Janus in the 2000s. It didn't have Criterion branding, for some odd reason.

It was in the original 4:3 on that DVD.

I have the German Weir BD set pictured above, it was remastered by Weir but cropped to 1.78 for that version.

I hope it is in its original 4:3 if it ever reaches UHD, though I know both of those are unlikely.

That’s what it was! I couldn’t remember which title. I thought it might Have been The Last Wave. If it’s on Cars, I may still have it.

Does the standard edition come with a slipcover when ordering from JB-HiFi? On the website, they only show the cover that's in the black case.

I've been to plenty JBs and have never seen a copy without the slipcover. That's not a guarantee though, things may have changed. Razorback for example is now slipless in store but had a slip for a year or so.

I have the Japanese release which is a prized possession along with my Japanese edition of The Cars That Ate Paris and Picnic.

But agreed Criterion has the rights for The Last Wave, and have had it streaming on the Criterion channel, so there is no excuses not to release it in physical form, along with the Plumber. And Cars had a 4K theatrical release so it would be nice if they released those as well. The perfect time would have been when Peter Weir received his Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. Criterion are sitting on a lot of unreleased licenses, unfortunately.
