I still don't like this cover art, but if it's the only way to get 4K...

This will be my fourth time buying this film...

The inner art (plus what I assume is a booklet, which is actually making the inner art hard to see) is now being shown on Amazon:

Looks like it has a new Atmos track! I'm still hoping there's a chance we'll see the deleted scenes.

The standard BD in the picture says Atmos, so it looks like they'll be throwing in a remastered standard BD as well.

I like the actual artwork of the headless horseman but don't like the white background.

I do like the steelbook cover art but much prefer the FYE black steelbook art. Makes it easy to just get the standard edition and drop the new discs into it.

Pre-ordered. The steel art is exactly what I was hoping for, booklet to boot.

I only have this on VHS so since a Blu Ray is included, I think I'm down for the steelbook.

I have the two digibooks already with the same cover, but I'm biased since they tried something new and succeeded at making it beautiful. I'm curious if they'll reprint the digibook's J card with the wrong Headless Horseman with some out of place pumpkins. They didn't even erase the blue screen in the picture of Christine and Johnny.

Well whoever says this is superior steelbook in regards to older one is clearly deranged through the roof.
I agree headless horseman is perfect, but white backround - more like grey one in regards of the movie is total shot in the dark with what this movie is about.
Black one with finish is better in all aspects - EU and US one.
This one even with glossy finish won't be anywhere near old one.

The front steelbook art looks a little off centered, IMO. The bottom image is cut off a bit with too much blank space at the top. It should've been raised up. But will be glad to get it and overall, very happy it's 4K.

We're deranged for having an opinion? It's nice that they're not reusing the same artwork over and over again. The Zavvi steel looks great, especially with the super glossy moon, but I think the newer artwork compliments the movie perfectly. I don't understand why it doesn't fit what the movie's about.. He's a supernatural villain that has a portal to hell through a tree in a town that's constantly foggy and dreary.. it's a great match. The US release was grey/silver and the UK version is more of a pale parchment paper shade. Neither are truly white.

You're entitled to an opinion and to purchase accordingly, but there are a number of very good reasons from a design and related retailing perspective to support the new steel book design:
  1. Contrast: The off-white background provides superior contrast to the larger and far more detailed representation of the headless horseman. From a distance of a few feet on a shelf, the reversed dark background of the older steel books doesn't provide sufficient contrast to accentuate both the film title and smaller image of the horseman.
  2. Uniqueness: A dark background steel book has already been offered. A greater number of steel book buyers will be incentivized to buy a new to steel book design, rather than have another of the older design, which leads me to...
  3. Differentiation: The standard case release uses the artwork most associated with the film, which happen to be dominated by a dark background, leading to the decision to have steel book art that is clearly distinct from the standard UHD release which will be offered for sale at the same time.
  4. Cost: The argument to end all arguments, Paramount already had the artwork from the latest digibook release which fit their needs (see the first three bullets), which I assume sold in sufficient numbers for them to save on cost with a proven winner to repurpose for the UHD steel book.

Wide release. It's up at Bullmoose too:

https://www.bullmoose.com/p/36369318...ital-steelbook

This is the UPC for it: 191329247204.. I'll add more retailers to the first post when they're posted on those sites.

The contrasting of the black on gray makes me think of the UK steel for The Conjuring. I effing love this. Showed this to my bf who absolutely loves this movie, and he even prefers the new design over the FYE one.
