If they relegate the uncut version to standard blu-ray which seems to be their MO these days, it's completely pointless to buy this. The unrated footage amplifies the movie.

I doubt we’ll get the unrated cut on 4K. Ignoring their history with this format so far, didn’t they source the unrated inserts from a lesser source last time?

Think so. It’s also the reason they gave for releasing only the theatrical cut of Lifeforce on 4K.

Their Blu-ray listed both cuts as being 4K scans of the original camera negative so I’m optimistic both will be included here in 4K. If either we’re just on Blu, I’d say it would be the anemic theatrical cut, especially given the history of this film’s unrated version.

If we don't get the UNRATED version on 4K, then I'm not buying it. As mentioned already, it's pointless to buy it.

They better give us both cuts.
I remember they made a huge deal out of their restoration of the uncut version, posting comparisons on their YouTube channel. They were proud of it. But we’ll see when the official announcement from them drops.

That's messed up.

Regarding whether it'll have both cuts, the spine shows 2-Discs, so it being a UHD and Blu-ray, the only way would be to have both cuts is on the same disc. They'll have to have 4 discs if they're going to put both cuts in and on their own disc like the past Blu-ray. Speculation is scaring me.

I’d be interested to see if they correct the sound on the uncut version. It was mixed too low compared to the theatrical on the previous release.

I still regret buying their Lifeforce release. The shorter version is unwatchable after you’ve seen the longer cut. I’ll never watch the UHD again.

Man I would go insane if the 4k was the theatrical cut only.

The unrated cut being in 4k is the only real incentive to buy it. They are unlikely to add any new features, the original artwork for this is not all that good. I just can't see a 4k transfer of the theatrical cut being worth 30 bucks when the blu is already good.

[Show spoiler]

I think it's more likely that when making the mock-up of the slipcover, SF just didn't update the number of discs.

Knowing that SF doesn't like using seamless branching, I think the most likely scenario is SF releasing a three disc set, with one UHD and two Blu-Rays, with only one of the cuts getting the UHD treatment.

Now I'd personally prefer a 2 UHD, 2 Blu-Ray set, with both cuts getting the upgrade, just like we got with Halloween 6 (issues with that set notwithstanding), but based on their track record, I don't see that happening.

The uncut version better be in 4K. Otherwise, what’s the point? The most recent restoration used higher quality film elements for the cut gore footage too, it’s not like this is a Silent Night, Deadly Night situation where the deleted footage only exists in VHS quality.

They would be STUPID to only put the R-rated cut on 4K. And if they do, this will be an easy pass.

I’m hoping the mock up saying it’s 2 discs is simply an error.

Assuming the mock-up is correct, my guess is they’ll just carry over the Theatrical Cut Blu-Ray from the previous release, and the UHD will be the theatrical cut + any remaining bonus material from the extended cut disc, completely excising the extended cut.

Or they’ll do the theatrical UHD will all the bonus material, and carry over the extended cut Blu-Ray disc.

A dream scenario would be the UHD being the extended cut + bonus material, with the Blu-Ray disc housing the theatrical disc from the previous release.

That would be ideal. SF should know better that fans are gonna want the cut on 4k that has the "teeth". Not the neutered version.

They should, but seeing as how they should’ve known for Nightbreed, Army of Darkness and Lifeforce, I don’t have faith.
