oh no they wont need blu-ray they will just stream the game off of a single server, that will give you great blazing speeds of 5.5 frames per second with 240x150 resolution, isn't that next gen.

You see, that's what I'm saying. No way is this going to work and even if it does it won't be as much as a rival to the Playstation3.

Apple should just stick with iPod Nano and iPhone. That's what they're mostly good at.

Why does everybody see competition as a bag thing? It'll make Sony Step it up even more

Competition is one thing, diluting the market isn't what the gaming world needs right now. An Apple inspired game console seems to have failure written all over it. At least when Microsoft unexpectedly joined the console race they had a solid gaming library and experience to back it up. Hell for awhile the gaming community was looking forward to there being only two horses in the race, but then Nintendo had to come out of the grave with a new gimmick and totally changed the game.

I predict if they ever did come out with a console or gaming machine it would end up like the Phantom or Ngage or be a noncontender in the nextgen race and instead try to pull a Wii by sticking with old technology built around a new gimmick. That really is the only way Apple would attempt this because they aren't known for being a company that sells hardware at a loss, and that is the only way to compete in the next gen console race. I bet if they were the ones behind the PS3 it would have cost at least $1200 at launch.

^^^

There's already enough competiton and consumer confusion with the PC, PS3, 360, Wii, PSP, DS all fighting for the consumer gaming dollar.
We get crappy ports from 360 to PS3 because gaming companies are already sinking millions of dollars in development in a title, and can't afford the manpower or financial resources (not to mention the *time*) to optimize for every platform.

We see this in the BD world where we have had to suffer through HD DVD optimized encodes.

There's only confusion because most consumers don't find their own info. They rely on what other people say, and what happens is they get caught in between fanboys playing a tug"O"war with them. If more people would seek their own info they might be able to find unbiased facts and be able to make a wiser choice.

So are you saying that fanboy wars are just fans competing over the souls of a unknowing consumer... and with enough fanboy kool-aid that unknowing consumer will become a card carrying fanboy as well.

WOW now we know how the transition of all logic occurs. Hurry I think we can win the peace prize for this breakthrough, now just to find out whats in the kool-aid.

Exactly and it doesn't just stop at the crappy ports from the 360 to PS3, the Xbox went through the same thing with crappy ports from the PS2 and I'm sure the next gen will go through the same depending on who gets out first.

A part of me does want Apple to make one just to watch it fail and knock their smug attitude down a a couple notches. Hell I would just like to see them release an OS that works on a billion+ different combinations of hardware, but that's my evil fanboy talking.

Apple won´t enter in the market against PS3 and 360 but their iTunes platform and their Touch devices can be a good place for Indie Games development and distribution.

I wouldn't count on it just yet. Anyway, there's enough competition already.
