I just don’t get what’s so terrible about Ends as a movie. If you’d called it the worst Halloween sequel (because it kind of is terrible as a sequel, and especially as a finale), I could have been on board. But it’s really not that bad of a movie. The only major issue with it is Michael’s physical presence does not belong in the story they are telling. The obligatory fan service is what hurts it, moreso than the actual meat of the movie. Though I do understand the anger, as Universal sold the movie as something completely different from what it was. Is the emo-psych-thriller approach for everyone? No. Is the dark-romance angle really suited for the bulk of the audience the movie was marketed to? Probably not. But those aren’t the faults of the movie itself. Those are the faults of misleading marketing. And before they are mentioned by someone else… I have several of my own gripes with the film, such as [Show spoiler] having no real effect on Laurie’s fight with Michael… or no one noticing [Show spoiler] during the climax of the movie… but none of that qualifies for “worst movie of all time.”

I mean, shouldn't Corey Cunningham be on the cover of Ends?

I'm not sure why the house in H:Ends is on the cover of H:Kills?

H18 and Kills account for one night where Michael reigns. Ends is the aftermath that left the town in a rotten state with not only Laurie Strode coming to grips with the reality of what happened and why, but evil also coming to grips as it tries to Limp its way back to the fold. If evil is a force of nature, then it is not bound to one man. Michael is an old dog sensing his end at this point. Evil was reborn in Corey, but ultimately evil in both its forms(Corey and Michael) were extinguished. As Laurie says of course, evil doesn't die. It changes shape. Laurie, Allyson, the victims, and the town of Haddonfield at least find their peace. Ends is not Michael's movie, it's Laurie's movie as well as being a final love letter to Carpenter and his legacy. So if anything the cover art is perfect for this set. Last edited by jess1581; 08-16-2023 at 09:20 PM. |

Well to me Halloween Ends it's like going to your local burger joint, ordering a burger and the burger joint gives a salmon sandwich, telling you is better and healthier which might be fine and dandy, but I went into the burger joint for a burger.
Universal had Michael Myers all over the place when advertising the film, Halloween fans wanted to see the culmination between Laurie Strodes and Michael Myers, that's what Universal promised through their advertising. What the audiences got was 6 minutes of Michael Myers and 105 minutes of Corey Cunningham (which was practically nowhere in the ad campaign for the film). So am sorry for the people who liked this film, it was ill conceived. ![]() ![]() |

I have to agree on this one. The hype for it and then the final product was not what we deserve. This trilogy was my first experience with the series. The second movie was incredible and the third had potential to have a spin off but man what the hell happen?

I was warned well in advance of what the film would not be, with the words “no matter how they try to spin it in the advertising” used. I have a few friends who were involved in the film, and while they didn’t tell me the plot, they informed me that the story had almost nothing to do with the Michael/Laurie vendetta, or Michael much at all. I tried to warn people before they saw it… and the ones who actually listened… enjoyed the film. Kinda funny what tempering one’s expectations can do. Last edited by gj217; 08-16-2023 at 09:35 PM. |

"But they were both carpenter films!" The character work through the H20 side was done by Debra Hill (may she rest in peace), and her absence is clearly felt in the new trilogy. Because whoever they got to replace her couldn't write the new characters as well or old characters as consistently and didn't have even a tenth of her talent, at least where it came to this franchise. The difference between the two is having your revival trilogy done right, or having done by A24. |

The Ends marketing didn’t focus on Corey because DGG said he wanted to keep that a surprise. He requested that they focus on Laurie & Michael for the trailers.

If that was the case, it was a bonehead move on his part, sorry to say. The expectation of a Laurie/Michael movie was a major contributor (if not the main reason) to people rejecting the movie.
