Of course, just 3 weeks after I start watching the Shout! DVD set. I might have to press pause for a few months or at least until the announce MSRP.

Somehow I've never purchased any of the DVDs so this release is definitely welcomed. I'll be looking forward to seeing the Beaver, Wally, Eddie, Lumpy, Miss Landers, and the rest of them on blu. I'll also keep my fingers crossed that Universal will put out The Munsters (which at two seasons should be a breeze in comparison to Beaver's six seasons).

Shout rereleased the dvd box set, dropping one of the extras. I bought the original box set off eBay (not a bootleg, thank goodness) but never figured out what was dropped.

I honestly wasn't even aware that Shout had re-released it as a different set.

I have the 2010 release, purchased in 2011 for $84 at Amazon...which was a pretty good deal then considering the MSRP was $200.

I just looked up the only entry on Shout's website, and sure enough the UPC is different and the only bonus features it lists for it are "Audio Interviews".

The "Bonus Disc" in the 2010 original set was a DVD-9 disc with various other bonuses, including Featurettes/Interviews and the original Pilot episode.

The Shout website only lists 36 discs, where the original set was 37 discs... so I'm guessing they just dropped the bonus disc entirely?

Wonderful news! I hope Universal puts out more classic TV. The Munsters would be very welcome.

Right now, the big one I'm waiting for is I Love Lucy. We got the first two season a while back, but I'm expecting a complete series eventually. Come on ViacomCBS!

Plus he is surrounded by other kids who are just out and out jerks and very unlikable instead of being funny and clever.

I always heard the quality drop was due to the series getting a new sponsor who insisted on putting more morality and sermons into the show, requiring the father to always be in a suit and tie and never dispensing questionable advice as he often does in the early seasons, to great hilarious effect. One late episode when the father catches a break by accidentally discovering something his sons screwed up, he then lords it over them as if he is some all knowing omnipotent super being.

No argument from me about the early seasons being classic and holding up very well, but the series goes on too long and the changes are disastrous. I'm happy it's coming to Blu for those who remember it with such fondness, but I keep hoping for THE FUGITIVE to get a solid upgrade to Blu from Paramount.
I’m a big fan of the show but, like you, I have a hard time watching the later seasons. I usually stop at season 4 after Larry and Judy leave the show. Season 1 is absolute gold with both of the boys young enough that they still do stuff together (like buy a mail order baby alligator and raise it in the toilet tank so their parents won’t catch them.) I’m old enough to remember those ads in comic books that had mail order alligators, Chihuahuas, and even monkeys!

I also agree about The Fugitive. One of the great tv series and long overdue for a BD upgrade.

I like Miss Landers (especially the episode where she comes to dinner at the Cleaver's home), but in terms of looks, I'll take Beavers first teacher, Miss Canfield (Diane Brewster).

.
Larry and Judy were comedy brilliance in the series and their "replacements" were embarrassingly and often infuriatingly bad. Especially the character of Gilbert who must be one of the biggest a-hole characters in TV history.
