It was supposed to have been shipped Priority mail, but the tracking prefix is clearly for Media Mail.

Is that how they normally ship even though they say priority mail. Media mail is the worst.
I see a pending charge for this and Digimon Adventure 02 so that’s exciting.

They used to ship Priority but I guess it got too expensive to keep offering it especially when they do partial shipments for larger orders and at the $50 minimum threshold (which is now $75). I mean they were doing it for every little thing. I had an order last holiday season with 1 order of 7 items and because some were backordered, it shipped in like 6 priority mail packages. It was overkill.

They package decently, if you ever bought from RightStuf back in the day, so Media Mail isn’t so much an issue. It usually takes 3 to 4 days to go from Iowa to Florida for me which is actually about the same length of time Priority takes for the same route. My last order which I received yesterday took 3 days and was MM.

Oh nice, CrunchyRoll ship from Iowa so media mail shouldn’t be so bad.

Media Mail takes a little longer than priority (but these days, really not much longer) but the quality of handling is the same. I have shipped many packages with both and the rate of loss/defect is no different between priority and media. The cost difference is often huge though for movies.

Sadly, I think it's crap.

(sorry I can't do screen caps)

I first threw in my UK All the Anime edition and sampled some scenes

then I threw this new US Release in...it isn't good.

They got rid of so much grain in shots, and I know bit rate isn't everything but my god it's DVD level bit rate at times.

There is the shot about 5 mins in with a static shot of our heroine I call it the milk cow discussion, the UK has nice grain, the US is smooth, no grain.

I can't recommend this disc at all.

Hopefully someone will throw up some screen shot comparisons, but the UK 4K is still my go to.

Hate that I spent so much on this coaster set lol

Wow! That's disappointing to read after all the hype and promises of better compression from Discotek. Mine hasn't shipped yet, but I'm already upset after reading the review.

I imagine there could be pros and cons but lack of grain did it for me.

I guess the UK All the Anime edition is OOP. I figured they’d release a non limited.

I'll have to see it, lack of grain doesn't bother me as much with animation . I might get mine tomorrow.

Yeah, a 1970s anime feature shot on film should have a good amount of grain.

How's the Blu? IIRC they said it's not degrained at all, only the UHD. I'm keeping my pre-order cuz at least it'll be a good Blu copy if so.

Just popped in the BLU, and you’re correct the BLU looks better than the 4K, maybe not without issues, but contains more grain.

At least one of the formats got it right. I like Discotek a lot, but whose decision was it to slather the UHD with DNR? It just seems bizarre.

The quality of a release is measured only in grain.

It’s a dealbreaker for me, I didn’t really look at the BLU beyond that cause I prefer the UK 4K and the US 4K is lifeless.

I figure the experts will chime in as they get copies and I’m curious what else they see.

Absolute shame the US disc is degrained, that really sucks to hear. That the UK release is still grainier and more filmic even with the awful encode is just incredibly disappointing, at least I've been too lazy to actually sell off my UK release.

would y'all say the twitter previews looked similar to the actual product tonemapping shenanigans aside?: https://twitter.com/discotekmedia/st...750992/photo/3

I love how this disc is already declared ruined and a DNR disaster after *one* negative review and absolutely 0 screenshots at all
Think some people might be jumping the gun a little bit
Also @PowellPressburger, do you even own a HDR TV? Your signature which includes a UHD player says your TV is a 1080p Panasonic plasma TV from 2013
How are you making such bold claims about an HDR disc without even a proper setup??

I’ll judge with my own eyes and form my own opinion when I receive and watch my copy next week.
