Just The Evil Dead '81 for me. I think this was a purchase with promo credit.

No e-mail for me. I have been paying to upgrade a lot of mine right along. Is there a rule going forward that can guide us on what will be automatically upgraded? I'm bummed.

Well...props to you for admitting on a world-wide forum you own The Emoji Movie.

Same. I also think that you should get the upgrade, no matter if you bought it directly from Vudu, or if you redeemed it. Seems silly to me. I like to buy physical media, period.

Only times I will buy it on Vudu first, if physical media is too expensive and Vudu has it on sale, if movie is not available physically in an upgraded format, or no digital code is included during purchase. Companies like Shout/Scream Factory, Vinegar Syndrome, Code Red and Synapse don’t give you codes.

I don’t think any rule/algorithm has been deciphered to explain what’s been upgraded this go ‘round, so I can’t imagine any unified theory is available for future upgrades.

Matilda
Battle: Los Angeles

Both purchased via D2D many moons ago but I had already upgraded them to 4K either via code (Matilda) or iTunes purchase (Battle).

Just got email. 20 upgrades including Brightburn, Batman: The Long Halloween Part Two, Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One, Sherlock Holmes and A Christmas Story.

About half of the list are titles that were already purchased on physical media, or directly from Vudu, as 4K UHD previously. I had already purchased The Lost Boys, Doctor Sleep, etc., about a year ago. So not really upgraded.

Hopefully, they will upgrade The Shining. I just purchased it and the 4K digital code expired.

Based on what people have posted and investigating what qualifies, these seems to be the common occurrence among what was actually upgraded in people’s Vudu’s purchase history.

D2D and Imports from other providers won’t upgrade. Direct Vudu/FN purchases, code redemptions made in FN (since these look like actual purchases and not code redemptions) and any free gifted from Vudu, UV, Flixster, Target Ticket, etc are getting the 4K upgrades. Direct code redeems on Vudu are still not quite sure if they do or don’t.

Remember that you may have several purchase history for the same title (especially if you merged your FNow account and maybe from UV as well). So, if you redeemed a code in Vudu in the past, that transaction may not be the one that received the upgrade.

Also, it seems like they are still processing upgrades on people’s accounts. So, if you have gotten any, you may still get some.

Well, I got an email with 55 upgrades. Well 54 as they listed Casablanca twice. After going through the list only 26 were new upgrades. I already had 28 of the titles as 4k. Weird thing is I got all 3 lord of the rings (Theatric) movies upgraded that I already owned in 4k. 2 of the 3 theatric Hobbit movies that I had in hdx upgraded. 1 did not.

BTW the majority of these movies I redeemed as codes. matter of fact I can't think of any I actually bought.

I had one upgraded - Not Another Teen Movie - even though I already had it in UHD from importing it from Prime Video.

I had bought it on Vudu years ago in HD, then Prime added it in UHD, I purchased, and got the UHD rights from MA transferring it, then yesterday Vudu upgraded the original HD I bought from them... lol

Now, if Vudu could do this with all the HDX movies we have redeemed with codes, that would be amazing.

Fantastic Beasts :The Crimes of Grindelwald upgraded for me. That was a code redemption and not a purchase. There are others on other user's lists that I purchased that did not upgrade. Seems pretty random. And I can confirm it did not carry over to MA.
