Watched this last night on Prime, and the sex scene was missing! It had been years and I vaguely remembered this as a great film so i was confused until I confirmed it was censored, what a waste of time and the old blu is scalpers prices :/ no wonder I havent seen it in so long

It's not that surprising that it was missing from Prime, but it would be complete heresy if it turns out to be missing from the upcoming 4K.

This is one sex scene that's absolutely integral to the story, of course, even if we never learned her name.

I only own the DVD, but I'm pretty sure that it's not censored. It's sad when this sort of thing happens. Hopefully the 4K will be intact.

Why is it not surprising that Prime edited it out? I was unaware they censored content.

For what it’s worth…Tubi appears to have the film with the scene intact.

To be fair it wasn't Netflix, there was an alternate soundtrack prepped for Hopscotch that removed the profanity. Criterion included it on their release as an alternate mix also so it had to have been sanctioned by someone involved with the movie way back when I'd imagine.

Some other entity could have done the editing and that's the version the aggregator licensed to stream. I don't really know who or why, only that AZ will occasionally stream content that has been edited.

Great actor. Other than many of the films already mentioned, I have always been fond of The Russia House, and his work on Robin and Marian and The Man Who Would Be King were outstanding too.

LOL. Apparently the actress (Valentina Vargas?) took Ethan Hawk’s virginity in preparation for that scene. Not sure how much truth there is to it. Either way he’s a lucky dog!
