That's what's so frustrating about them to me. They're one of the best studios at embracing 4K and churning out titles but they're so inconsistent in their restorations and encodes

Yeah, they seem to be pretty fickle with their releases.

How many Sapphire Series discs were there again? 4? Godfather singles don't count since it's just a re-release of the box set.

Let's also not forget the Centennial Collection on DVD as well.

I'm glad that the line's continuing...

Glad to see nobody liked your troll-y threadcrapping post. You made a similar one in the Major League thread.

No one cares what films you deem to be more worthy or "important". It's easier to post nothing than to sashay into threads dedicated to movies that you don't like just to dump on them.

TBF that was Paramount's 100th anniversary, so it was going to be limited to a year at most anyway.

I hope the 4K of Black Rain follows soon from Paramount Presents!

Here's the back cover of the UK release (possibly not final - notice no images).

[Show spoiler]

The 4K UHD disc is film only and the Blu-ray--presumably remastered--has the audio commentary and old extras, as well as a new Filmmaker Focus featurette with executive producer Hawk Koch. Audio is still Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and language support includes French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish (Castilian) on both discs.

EDIT: Also, I believe it will be the first time the commentary and video extras are released outside North America. The international Blu-rays have no extras (there was never a UK or Australian Blu-ray, either) and even the international DVDs had only a theatrical trailer.

The Presents slip this looks to have a nice gold finish to the front in addition to the usual silver foil spines for 4K releases.

Had a bit of sticker shock when I went to Preorder this just now. Were these always $35+? It's been a while since I've purchased a Presents title so maybe I've just forgotten. Diabolik has it for $34 but their shipping kills any discount. Atomic wants $37. These ever go on sale?

Yeah they always were that pricing. I actually can't stand the aluminum foil shininess of the spines on my shelves so I'm glad titles like Liberty Valance are getting standards.

All of the PP 4Ks have had the $35 price point. I usually wait for a sale (20% off or BOGO 50% off). Been getting them for about $25-28. There have been a few sales where they drop below $30 (actually lower but I don't recall exactly), but they are rare. You could wait for the inevitable rerelease in different packaging, but that takes about two years if it's a good seller. So far only two ((?) Liberty Valance and Roman Holiday) have made it out of the 4K PP line. Other 4Ks (first released as blu-rays in the PP line) have been done as well around the $20 price point.

This is a worrisome trend with UHDs.
Save your money and get the Blu-ray, this UHD looks like garbage.
