Even though its one of my favorite movies, the ending of Field of Dreams gets me every time.
[Show spoiler]Seeing Ray have a catch with the spirit of his father chokes me up, since I never got to know my own Dad very well.

All these youtube clips mean nothing without context.

I'm gonna add the ending to Big Fish. Telling his father a story instead and then the funeral. Damn. Every time.

No context needed when it comes to “Sophie’s Choice”. The most nightmarish and upsetting scene I can think of.

The scene in The Perks of Being a Wallflower where Sam is making Charlie a milkshake and Charlie says this is the first adult party he's ever been to. Sam asks why and when Charlie tells her why, it killed me. I was there on opening night and when that scene played, it broke me in two. I was sitting between two people and I wanted nothing more than to get out and leave. However, I knew if I got to the steps to leave, 911 would've been called. I was falling apart in a movie theater. Why? Because what happened to Charlie and his best friend is the SAME EXACT thing that happened to me. My SO had the same name as Charlie's friend. I bought the movie on Blu-ray because I JUST have to have it (it's my second favorite movie of all time).

That was in 2013. I didn't watch it again until 2022. It was too hard. Every time I would have that same crisis I did at the movies. When I watched it in 2022 I was able to watch it and be ok. I was so numb to the pain at that point, I guess, that it didn't hit me nearly as hard. I still cried horribly, though. I seldom tell strangers that story. Let me tell you this. Life is not for the faint at heart. I have experienced more pain in 14 years than some people ever see in their lifetime. And it never ends, as the latest round involves my dad who passed away on 12-26-23. This is not meant to be a woe is me boo hoo story. It's just hard to understand how a WHOLE movie and one scene, in particular, killed you without context. The movie is not one that comes to mind when one thinks of sad movies. But it is the saddest movie I have ever seen and ever will see.

I don't know if sad is the right word for this scene. Overwhelming feels more accurate..

This scene still tears me up to this day and I’m in my late 30’s no. This scene with that score really hits close to home. It’s made all the sadder by Brandon Lee’s passing.
