Of course there's news of a 4K coming about a week after purchasing this through the Disney movie club. Of course.

Yeah, this is such a fun ride. I rode it 6 times over 3 days last summer. If it weren't for those SpeedPass thingys, I probably wouldn't opted to wait in line.

So excited for this 4k release! Sure it's not the greatest, but I saw the original Tron in movie theaters when I was a kid, and while the hype of the sequel really didn't hit, I still enjoyed it for what they did. Kind of bummed that Ares won't have Jeff Bridges, but Disney will continue to franchise this to the ground like their other properties.

Let's hope for a lively HDR grade, not the usual Disney bore.

I think if it was a rushed job just for D+ then it would have been available there from day one.

The ride isn't new; it has been running in Shanghai Disneyland since 2016. In honor of Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary they built the same ride for Magic Kingdom Park and it was supposed to open in 2021 but then the crisis happened while they were building it so it ended up opening in 2023 in honor of Disney100. I have ridden it and it is a great ride but I do not like the Virtual Queue method that they currently use because you are only allowed to ride it once per day.

I f*cking love John Carter. A 4K release would be a day one buy for me. No shame.

Would love to see John Carter as mentioned previously and also The Lone Ranger (2013).

Correct. Very recently 4K HDR masters were prepped for 2D and 3D versions both with Dolby Vision and Atmos simultaneously.

I'd put money down that this would show up on Apple's Vision Pro in 4K 3D.

Not sure how one correlates to the other, as doing a new master for such a catalogue-phobic studio is no guarantee of a disc release, so he's not wrong that this rejoicing could be somewhat premature. But day 1 if it happens.

Disney's putting a lot of money into the Tron franchise lately. Catalog or not, you don't spend millions on a ride in TWO parks for funzies, and they didn't have to go through all this trouble just to promote a third film. Disney's been doing banger releases in their catalogs lately, too (Snow White, Cinderella). This could easily be just as much of a banger, and why waste the work on a streaming system that doesn't show the full potential of the remaster?

Why does anything get remastered just to appear on streaming? And yet it does, all the time. One is never a guarantee of the other.
