Yes they are coming out, but is anyone buying them. Is the sale of the comic translating to people watching the movie. Or is the movie pushing people to the comic. These are marketing tools are they working?

Zack Snyder claimed that Rebel Moon would have made more at the box office than Barbie, but his $1.6 billion metric has a few problems.

The entire Snyder thing needs a documentary, if people on line are begging for his stuff why does it not translater to sells?

Zack, what a fool. There is a big difference making a choice to part with money to watch one film in particular at the theatre vs choosing to watch a movie included as part of a home subscription package. I'm sure a significant number of rebel moon viewers were looking for something to put on and the selection offered little.

Another sci-fi original film was recently released theatrically; The Creator. Made around $110M at the box office worldwide. I consider Rebel Moon ending in a similar box office tier, if it had a similar theatrical release strategy.

In a couple of years from now, both films will largely have been forgotten by mainstream audiences. I don't see any franchise potential here.

Maybe Furiosa will do OK; that's an original IP. DUNE P2 is doing gangbusters and the new ALIEN film might do well too, but they're based on old IPs.

Sci-fi is a hard sell theatrically, unless James Cameron, Villeneuve or Nolan are behind the wheel.

If they weren't, or if there wasn't a market for them, they would not keep releasing them. These aren't loss leaders.

2 novelizations (including the audiobook/audible versions)
2 Art of Books
4 issue prequel series
1 collected edition of prequel miniseries
1 soundtrack of the first film

1 novelization (and its audio versions), 1 Art of Book, 3 issues of the prequel comic, and the first soundtrack have already been released with just the first film being released.

That trailer looks like an AI creation in response to the question: show me what a film by Denis Villeneuve would look like if he was talentless.

I meant Netflix giving Snyder a third shot.

Makes you wonder what the future holds for Snyder. Supremely talented when it comes to visuals but his own original stories don't seem to be connecting with audiences in the way these huge productions really should/ need to. I feel his style is almost too flamboyant to join an existing franchise but he doesn't seem to be able to get new ones off the ground much either.

You mean, a third film idea that isn't in the Rebel Moon IP?

I reckon Netflix wants to keep him onboard, making content for them.

With 'both films will largely have been forgotten by mainstream audiences', I meant The Creator and Rebel Moon - not the two RM films. In case I confused someone.

Ya've confused me now. Doesn't RM stand for Rebel Moon?

Sorry

Yes, but I can't make a statement about RM Part 2, since no one has seen it. I was referring to The Creator and Rebel Moon Part 1. Imo they'll be gone from the conversation in a couple of years. Just like no one talks about Blade Runner 2049 apart from the fanbase and youtube reactors - and that is a great film with some fascinating themes to discuss, unlike Rebel Moon that offers very little apart from the visuals.

Snyder signed a first look deal with Netflix back in 2021 and THR reported that said deal will be for two years. So unless it was extended at some point, or he started another project before July last year, this is the last movie that's part of that deal.

Will be interesting to see what Netflix does next, if they continue their partnership with Snyder.

This is the post-mortem fan screening Q&A for Part 2 so I guess this goes here:

Snyder confirmed that different takes are frequently used for the same lines in scenes that are in both films because he considered that the tone of one matched the intent of the given cut better. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - The Movie. He doesn´t even consider them to be set in the same continuity. I pitty the poor Movie-Censorship.com editor who will break this down.

For what its worth, the twitter brigade suggest the film might be better than the first. The only way was up after the first though.

“At the end of Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver it feels as if this story has not advanced much. It’s as if we’re in the same place we were after Part 1 except the body count is a bit higher. I do love me a Zack Snyder slowmotion scene though & there are plenty! #RebelMoonPart2”
