I held off buying the original Twister (1996) 4K, hoping there would be a double-feature with the new Twisters 4K. It looks like they might be doing that for the 2K Blu-rays, but I haven't seen anything yet with the 4K releases.

Director Lee Isaac Chung talks about making Twisters.
https://www.bfi.org.uk/interviews/le...y-get-this-job He cited westerns, especially the ones by John Ford and Howard Hawks, as a major influence. Were there any films that inspired you along the way, either in look or tone? I was all over the place with my references on this movie. I was having our crew watch various films, but at the top of that list are some of Spielberg’s films, such as War of the Worlds (2005) and Jaws (1975). Those films are incredible. Then I was looking at westerns, and the idea of someone facing off against a villain. Thelma & Louise (1991), even, was a huge reference for me to try to capture a sense of place and the poetic texture of that place. Were there any specific westerns you looked at? Someone that Dan Mindel, the cinematographer, and I talked about was John Ford. We really loved John Ford films. And Howard Hawks was a very big influence as well, just in terms of having three characters and a very strong female lead, and figuring out how those relationships change and shift. The Big Sky (1952) by Howard Hawks is really big for me. All that love is in the movie, even if it’s not obvious. |

Saw this twice yesterday. Definitely one of my favorite films of the year and an excellent disaster film with a great cast and soundtrack. And it looks gorgeous. Saw it once in 2K and then again in 4K. The grain is very present and it’s a nice break from the usual boring digital look. It’s going to stun on UHD. And the Atmos was pretty good too.

Saw it yesterday. It was legit awful. Just dreadfully boring and bland and uninteresting and contrived and lame and….. ick. It was a struggle to even get through and by the end of it I wanted my money back. As a collector of movies who enjoys building my own personal library, this is one I won’t be adding to my collection. Which is nuts because if I like a movie even a little bit, I buy it. That should tell you what I thought of this one. I don’t think I’ll ever care to see it again.
That being said, it wasn’t completely without merit. Glen Powell definitely owned the movie with his vast charisma. Unfortunately, that was about all it had going for it. I think there were two other characters I even remotely liked. The rest were garbage. The original isn’t some masterpiece of cinema by any means, but Twisters is definitely a slap in the face to Twister. 1.5/5 |

Um, ok, well, I just got back and thought it was really well done. A stitch better than the first film. I saw it in IMAX and it should get a nomination for sound. Some really great shots in this movie, and the dialog isn't nearly as corny as the first film. While the first film had its goofy side, this movie takes a more serious edge.
8.5/10 and definitely going to see it again. |

The thought of ever seeing this movie in my lifetime never entered my mind AT ALL. The video about it being shot on film somehow popped on my feed and now I'm planning on seeing it this coming week.
![]() I cannot remember the last movie I saw in a theater. I think it was The Batman. |

I thought the same thing, but there does appear to be a combo-pack for the standard Blu-ray releases. I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for 4K, but maybe they only had rights to the 2K releases as a double-feature... https://www.amazon.com/Twisters-Doub.../dp/B0D8WHVWL3 I'm still holding off on the individual releases for now, hoping for something to be announced later. |

I wouldn't be that harsh, it's a perfectly watchable, dumb (even too dumb in the finale), safe and transparent summer blockbuster, but it's much, much worse than Twister in every single way. (including the tornado sequences)
When the main character is back at her family home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, there's a song with lyrics "Can't take the home out of Oklahoma So you can't take it out of me." Oh Lord, save me! |
