This was a very successful stage musical world wide. It has a ready made audience. As long as the film maker does not mess it up.

Was this shot natively in 3D?

(I'm almost sure it wasn't, but it can't hurt to ask)

I presume it's converted, like M.Chu's last 3D movie, G.I. Joe Retaliation.

I doesn't make much of a difference nowadays.

Besides, I'd rather watch a converted 3D film where everything is in focus than a native one that was shot like it was meant to be seen only in 2D.

Given Turbine's first 3D releases are Universal, here's hoping for a 3D blu-ray release.

Maybe that's because they made a contract with Universal only.

According to IMDB, thus far, Adam Ohl's listed as a stereo producer. This matches with his listing on his LinkedIn account.

His work includes Kong: Skull Island, The Great Wall, The Mummy (uncredited), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Shazam!, Hobbs & Shaw, Dolittle, F9, and Jurassic World Dominion.

The 3D will need to be strong to get me into the theater. The trailers aren't drawing me in and I haven't read the book yet. They should reveal some of the songs that are supposed to be very good according to fans. For some reason these days in 2023, 2024, trailers of musicals aren't really pushing the whole musical aspect, as Wonka's trailers proved.

I hate it when chickenshit distributors of musicals are too afraid to market them as musicals. The Wonka trailers are terrible.

Yup, they should market them aggressively as musicals so they bomb big time at the box-office

Nope, they should market them as what they are so the interested audiences for them can go see them. Musicals aren’t box office poison anymore.

It's definitely interesting to see them avoiding the musical aspects in the trailers many times completely in recent times. To the disadvantage of the theatrical run in my opinion. I think there are plenty of fans of the Disney era when the songs were one of the biggest reasons to go see the movie.

The Lion King 1994 or Aladdin 1992 for examples. The musical aspect was a major factor to their success with excellent songs.

Sounds like they did some marketing results or took some polls to make that decision. But then the question would be, why even make a musical movie with songs in them if it's bad for business? Not directed at you to answer, but just a general question to the filmmakers or producers most of all.

What if the huge hit Frozen, made part 3, but did not include any songs in the film? Would that be an advantage to the film? While I'm not a big fan of the films, I have heard so many times, people singing the "Let it Go" song for years after on TV and elsewhere.

On topic, will be interesting to hear if this is a strong 3D conversion along the lines of Disney's Malificent 2, which has some impressive 3D for a conversion in the medium to strong range.

Nope, they’re not box office poison any more because the form is making something of a comeback, on television as well.
