I don't hate them, but they are very overpriced for what they are. Also, I dislike how they have driven the "smaller" trend amongst mainstream audio; it's a fact that noise is made by moving air, and tiny little diaphrams just can't move enough to accurately reproduce the full range of sound.

That said, they do a good job of making the sound stage (where the sound seems to be "coming from") much larger than you would expect for little speakers, so if you want a pleasant "noise from everywhere" effect with soft. non-challengin music they are great (if a bit pricey). My dad loves his for that exact reason.

Otoh, I would never recommend them for home theater to anyone (unless WAF is the most important consideration) because the soundstage is so diffuse that it does a horrible job in surround-sound setups, where you want to have precise localization of the sound. I have to admit that as someone who really loves theater sound it pains me every time they advertise their 3-2-1 system as giving you all the surround sound without the extra speakers. It's probably better than the on-set 2.0 setup of tv speakers, but it can't hold a candle to even a cheap 5.1 surround system for movie watching.

The thing with Bose is that they refuse to publish any specs on any of their products, they use a lot of processing, and over-hype their products. Bose pays BB millions to have their own kiosks. If you notice, the Bose kiosks have their own special discs that you must use in that kiosk(I used to work @ BB in the HT department). Check out any reviews of Bose products. None of them are from audio video mags. They pay a lot of money to get their name out there. I'm sorry if I'm ranting. I don't hate Bose, I just don't trust them and I feel like you can get much better equipment for the same amount of money.

I don't hate Bose. I just think that there are much better speaker solutions for less cost than Bose.

Also, choosing speakers is very subjective; one speaker brand might sound good to person A but not to person B. It's all a matter of personal choice.

I have a Bose iPod speaker doc rechargeable deal and it suits my purpose just fine.

I hear their noise canceling headphones are quite good. I took them for the spin myself and was impressed - but for $299! Same story - good but overpriced considering...

I found out about these for the same price. I'm willing to bet that these are absolutely sick!

Have had my Bose speakers since '94 and have been very pleased. A/V is a very personal and touchy subject(kinda like politics, money, etc). My advice is to test drive any and everything you can.

While i have a polk surround sound system with a sony reciever what bose seems good for is their wave radio's,3-2-1 or quiet comfort headset.

I've had great experience(s) with the wave radio, wave music system-predates
their 3-2-1 and qc 2...i don't doubt they're overpriced but that in itself can be
eletetist because only those that can afford it would buy it.

Haven't tried their surround sound gear i'd be intrusted to see if their videostage
5 mono-5.1 upconversion really worked and if so why they don't sell a reciever
that would be sold by itself.

My own personal understanding is that DENNON is the best you can get but
there might be even better stuff though as stated dennon's supposed to be
top of the line. Sony has always designed great remotes though.

I enjoy the Bose system that is in my house. Sure some super low bass frequencies don't shake the floor like the 12" sub in my room, but over all I can't complain.

With my employee discount, Bose becomes a great value for the $ as it is marked up pretty heavily.

I think peoples biggest gripe with Bose isn't the quality, but the price. And for me since the price is pretty equal to lesser products after my Discount, they are a good choice for me. + the Bose in my Maxima rocks the ish!

I can name several >$100 headphones that sound as good if not better.
Heck I know one that is under $70 that just kills it.
To be fair it doesn't have noise correction, but in the sound quality dept it is no contest.

Well when you buy BOSE you must take great pride in knowing that 80% of your money went to their advertising campaign. I for one hate BOSE.

i don't hate them, I just think they are over rated. They make a aviation headset (bose aviation X) they sell them for $999. I got the David Clark X11 for almost $200 cheaper when a friend got his bose. Comparing the two, I found mine to be more confortable after about 2 hours, just as quite and better built.

They started making these headsets about ten years ago or so, David Clark has been around for 40 plus. Bose has made a fortune selling these things to people that don't know any better.

i got suckered into a Bose store a few months back. The guy wanted to sell me complete kit for around 3 grand. When he asked what I had at home and told him Mcintosh Labs, he knew the sales pitch was over.

I dislike Bose because you can get a hell of a lot more bang for your buck going with almost any other speaker. The one that comes to mind is Paradigm there Canadian developed, and offer probably one of the best price to performance ratios ever apperently. I have never heard them but when I upgrade it will probably be to Paradigm Studio line.

It all depends on for what they are used for - I have heard their headphones and car audio speakers are quite nice - For home their is much worse, but like everyone else says, you can find much better for the same price. Personally I think they are a mid quality speaker at a high end price. Oh, their subwoofers suck though!
