I happily upgraded from my German 4K release. The standard edition is now almost sold out.

I made the mistake of getting caught up in the hype with this one. People were selling the gore like it was the next Dead Alive, so needless to say I was disappointed.

I think Train to Busan is a better overall movie, but this one is highly entertaining and well done.

I have the French release so I won't be getting this but nice to see obscure foreign horror getting a domestic release. Loved the HDR on this, by the way.

I really didn't see this getting a US 4K release, so I just recently bought the German steelbook. I've already watched it and thought it looked good, so I doubt I'll pick this one up, but really excited the 4K is coming out here!

My VynSyn copy arrived today and of course I immediately did a little A vs B comparison. I was expecting it to look identical but they don't. The US release has deeper blacks and and a color boost.

Yes I am using a cellphone on Pro Mode. Any inconsistencies in framing is my fault. I was using my Sony X700 for the US and my PS5 for the German. Both were connected by Sony DH790, which was connected to my TCL R635 via EARC. Both were in HDR10.

If anybody else gets the same results using better methods, I'd love to know.

VS never shipped my 4k copy. Still waiting from a reply from their customer service.

EDIT: My 4k copies finally arrived, quite randomly. For some reason, I haven't been getting the emails containing the shipping notices and tracking from VS anymore, when my orders go out. Weird, that. Glad I didn't miss out on this release, though.

I owned the German 4k release. Perhaps some will think I'm crazy, but this 4k release looks better to my eyes - much more natural-looking. The colors really popped on the German release. Some may prefer that, but not me.

So both the German one and the US one has boosted colours compared to the other?

Unless geomon mixed them up, I guess it's the latter though. Can't remember what the German one looks like, but might take a look later to see what I think it is.

EDIT: Meh, just did... geomon surely got it right and adamjankowski will have to get his hands on the German one again.

I watched the German one several times. It is very HDRish. I find the colors garish, like a video game or something, and the U.S. one to look more natural, yet still having very solid colors and blacks. I am happy with my Vinegar Syndrome copy. I find some of Vin's titles to run a bit hot, but I am happy with this release.

You sure you're not working for Vinegar or something? I took a look at the German one again earlier and it actually looks rather muted. And at times a little greyish acually. Which would explain why someone maybe felt like lowering the blacks and boosting the colours. What you say really makes no sense, because if anything I'm sure it's the other way 'round and going by geomon that's obviously what it is.
