I loved Gilligan's Island watching re-runs as a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s. I've got all three seasons on DVD and re-watched those countless times. I always hoped they would reach Blu-ray one day. I will pass on this, but pretty cool they are doing it.

No, unfortunately the cost of pressing a UHD disc (and required third-party authoring and licensing) is far, far higher and wouldn't be feasible for a limited release like this. As for the quality of the movie it basically explains itself as Gilligan's Island was (as most classic TV) episodic in nature & not dependent on story arcs or convoluted lore.

There were three movies: "Rescue From...", "The Castaways..." & "The Harlem Globetrotters..." & you're describing the second one. Unfortunately the second two are only available in very low quality & are hampered by licensing. They were also more sitcom in style with a laugh-track & low-stakes stories, while "Rescue From..." was more cinematic in nature & far and away the best story.

Yeah, Castaways was before the Globetrotters. Almost forgot about it, he bought the island and built the resort. The third movie, with the Globetrotters, was made to have a reason to revisit the island, lol.

That cover has to be intentionally bad right? It might be the worst I've ever seen.

I don't remember much of the movie but I definitely remember seeing it on TBS back then.

I'll probably pass but I love odd ball releases like this.

This might be one of the biggest leaps in quality from a 1080p disc to a 4K, and it's from a public domain label. I hope that Variety releases a 4K scan of the silent Ben-Hur (which was in SD on the boxset of the 59 Ben-Hur).

I for one absolutely love that they’re doing this; now only if they could have gotten rights and elements for all 3 Gilligan films!

Any and all classic TV on Blu-ray and/or 4K is highly welcomed.

I've already pulled the trigger on this. The cover art is hysterical! A sort of in-joke jab at previous PD releases and, while I was not a fan of the last blu, I hope this one makes up for it. Really!

I'm guessing this is the "feature" version and not broken into two parts as originally broadcast? The first part had a part 2 teaser as well as its own credits, and part 2 had a recap at the beginning.
