The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Wondering if you’ll be Zelda the entire game. Also wondering how the echo system works during extended gameplay. If it’s too frequent or uses a menu system that starts to feel cumbersome that could be disappointing. It’s Nintendo so I have faith.

Perhaps we'll probably get a demo sometime before release to see how the system runs through. Seems this will be the first 2D Zelda I would get though.

I believe an ESRB rating or some international equivalent said you will be playing as Link as well. Although I'm willing to bet it's right at the start right before he gets captured. Also, if the final boss isn't Ganon using Link to fight for him against Zelda, I'm gonna be disappointed.

Yep, I loaded up. Only $40/game for first party titles that won't drop anywhere close to that for a good while after release is always a bargain. You also get a cool bonus for Echoes of Wisdom from Best Buy.

Grabbed this, Ys Oath in Felghana and Mario & Luigi. I wasn’t that interested in Mario & Luigi but I was buying the other two at full price so worst case I just tell myself I only paid $20 for it

Sounds like they didn’t sort out the frame rate issues Link’s Awakening had, was hoping that wouldn’t end up being the case.

Switch 2 to the rescue…I guess.

The game's codename is Edward, as previously rumored.

It was co-developed by Grezzo, and it utilizes the same in-house Grezzo game engine used by the Link's Awakening remake. (It's not Unreal Engine.)

Physics are powered by NVIDIA PhysX.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom should be the new standard for top-down Zelda going forward. Rather than abandoning the classic formula, Zelda has shown that the old and the new can come together and produce wonderful results that reward experimentation and reinforce the joy of play. This is easily in contention with A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds as one of the best top-down adventures in the series, and we hope we don’t need to wait another 35 years for Zelda to take a starring role again.

Picking up my copy and the Link amiibo tomorrow but won’t be able to get started until next week probably since I haven’t finished Trails of Cold Steel yet.

Pleasantly surprised my copy just showed up. Day 1 update seems pretty substantial unless my internet is running slow this morning. Read an article that the map is 8 times larger than Links Awakening.

So its sounding like the frame rate fluctuation is pretty awful this time around in the over-world and boss fights after looking at some other reviews today (including Digital Foundry).

Kind of making me want to let the game sit on the shelf until Switch 2 unless they patch the performance (doubt it). Hmmm

Metacritic score is 86. Solid and almost identical to the score for Link's Awakening for the Switch, which is what I was expecting.
