Wasn’t fond of this remake when I went to see it in the theater, but it has grown on me. I’ll take this over any of the sequels after part 6.

Not a fan of this movie (feels more like a home invasion film than a Friday the 13th film), so I’m content with the Blu-ray copy in the Shout boxset. Maybe if the rest came out on UHD, I’d consider this for completion’s sake. The bonus features do look nice at least. Not sure how much of an improvement the upscale will be; this was a 35mm shoot with a 2K DI. I guess the Last House on the Left remake would be a good point of reference.

I'll pick this up since a disappointment of the boxset for me was the lack of special features on the remake and I feel like a 4k transfer will really shine here - I can't see myself snagging any of the others unless Arrow actually can put together unrated cuts for the ones with cut gore and footage - I'll take part 2 with the vhs footage added in with some sound effects as some fancuts have done in a heartbeat for instance, and I know there exist decentish quality workprints of part 7 as well.

The bonus disc for the Shout! Set included new stuff for the Remake.
The only reason it was on the bonus disc was because it was a mandate from WB that Shout! were only allowed to use the old discs for the remake & Freddy vs Jason.

Tho Arrow has knocked out every version with this current list of extras.

I'm all-in. Ordered from Orbitdvd at warp speed. Yes it's nasty and nihilistic with unlikeable, shallow characters and zero vintage charm, which is the classic Platinum Dunes formula. Haters can hate. Still better than 95+% of all horror titles coming out of Hollywood for at least the past 5+ years.

I'd love it if we got a whole pile of other PD titles in this vein - TCM 2003, TCM The Beginning, The Hitcher 2007, The Unborn 2009, etc. C'mon, Arrow....Jumby wants to be born now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never even watched the disc that came with the Shout set lmao, put the other films out too and see how many people care about this, in a way it's genius people are hungry and will grab this to feed the urge because they can't buy the real Friday films. At least it's Arrow, but the movie is meh. WTF Arrow do the whole series

I like how it condenses the first 3 films into a better-paced narrative. The original first 2 films are a slog. IMO the best modern remake of the Big 3 slasher film series. I know the die-hards like the classics but sprinting Jason is a straight menace in the remake. Best Jason IMO.

Not gonna help get titles in the UK, as Sony has pretty much closed up shop there and is no longer licensing to UK labels. Indicator's big batch of Sony titles over the next couple of years is probably going to be it for awhile.
