I'm in!

I hope Severin can release a standalone of BLACK SAMURAI, as I missed the big Al Adamson box.

For those sitting on the fence about this release...

This is a masterpiece of the genre. Hands down. It isn't perfect. Far from it. They seemingly only had enough film to do one take of each scene. It's a bit rough around the edges. Some of the cast seems to lose a little momentum halfway thru, but still manages to keep it all together. You have the perfect hero stud man Black Belt Jones vs. the bumbling evil villain, Pinky, the hot Bond babe, and killer choreographed stunt scenes. It also serves as a nice 70's time capsule.

It is largely evident that this served as a template and heavily influenced Barry Gordy's "The Last Dragon". You know the movie that played on Television in the 80's/90's about six times a year on the weekend in summers with "Bruce Leroy" and "Sho-Nuff"? If you liked that movie, then you will like this one. It doesn't take itself seriously, is a hoot, and comes highly recommended as for what it is. It really is among the best of the genre and I couldn't be happier that WAC dusted it off and gave it the respect it deserves.

I can't wait to sit down and watch this in hi-def for the first time!

Nonsense. It's pretty much the most perfect movie I have ever seen.

Speaking of fake sequels, here in the UK THE TATTOO CONNECTION was re-named BLACK BELT JONES 2 for video!

Those same charmers, Altas Video I think, also released BRUCE AND THE SHAOLIN BRONZEMEN as KING BOXER 2!

Not to my knowledge, I think all releases just use that same 4:3 PAL master - even the Pathfinder one, which licensed it from First Films same time they got MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE and KNIGHT ERRANT.

i've got a 1:85:1 custom DVD of Tattoo Connection, english dubbed, it's much better than the crappy official DVD.There's also a 2:35:1 custom around but it's cut by 6 minutes.

The blaxploitation effect is rather spoilt by the dub, which is very heavy on the British accents. Kelly at least is dubbed by what seems to be an authentic black man, albiet one with a lisp.

There is a lot 70s' urban street language here.
There are funny moments though.
It is entertaining movie.
A shame Jim Kelly didn't take off as a star.

There is this interview you can find on youtube where Jim Kelly talks about not becoming a big star in Hollywood because of race. It's sad because he was right.
