Speaking seriously...

What shitty movies had some promise in concept (or whatever) that could have promise to be a good movie if made well?

I know there's something I can think of but I'm going blank now.

Exactly, people are missing the point. The original Fistful wasn't marketed as a remake of Yojimbo.

This news suggests they are literally remaking this exact movie, western setting and all. It's not the same thing as riffing on a movie and tweaking it.

If you ask me, even if you get the best actor for the role this will be a dud without Ennio's music.

Although I've got some hope for the remake, this makes sense.

Exactly! Couldn't agree more. People are clearly failing to break down what this actually means. To anybody okay with this, ask yourselves. Would this be acceptable if Hollywood wanted to remake Star Wars beat for beat, space setting, lightsabers and all? I mean... Star Wars is a remake of sorts, no?

Kurosawa stole the plot of Hammett's Red Harvest with a bit of The Glass Key (the capture/beating/escape of the hero). https://thrillingdetective.com/2019/...g-red-harvest/ If you look at Imdb you'll find more than 30 films that use Red Harvest's plot. At least Last Man Standing and Miller's Crossing have the appropriate period setting, though the latter is more a great mix of The Glass Key and Red Harvest.

Turner Classics was showing the Trilogy last night....no way you can re capture what this films delivered. From the acting to the humor, to the music ..well to just everything....Everyone knows what you are watching when they walk in the room and hear those few notes of music...an impossible task to duplicate.

This is in such an early stage of development that it's more likely to not happen than actually see the light of day.
A few years ago a TV series based of this was also in development, and absolutely nothing came of that.

Change the genre again, make it science fiction. Outland did it rather well with High Noon. Westerns are only interesting (to me) when they star Clint Eastwood.

They already did a science fiction version of Fistful of Dollars
