I will say, despite how over the moon I am about this announcement, I'm still tempering my excitement just a bit. The reason is because another title in my top 10 wish list -Tattoo - was announced by Shout Factory a while back, only for the release to be canceled a few weeks later because usable film elements couldn't be found. I hope FCE has not made the same mistake.

Another Phoebe Cates film I'd like to see on Blu-ray is Baby Sister. Scorpion released it on DVD. Has a TV movie feel (maybe it is?) but it's a very enjoyable early 80's drama.

Yeah, it was a tv movie. I'm with you, though. I wouldn't mind it getting a blu ray release either.

At the time, maybe still, I thought this was a much easier watch than Blue Lagoon.
The adversarial man v man conflict gave it a pulp energy and driving forward motion that seemed completely lacking with the other film.

Willie is annoying. But for most male viewers, he's just white noise anyway. Cates dominates the field of vision whenever the two are on screen together.

hey. i knew a guy who worked with cates a long time ago and he told me that she was very stuck up and conceited. and like a major diva.. funny thing is. she never became a julia roberts meryl streep big! so iam not sure why she hates this move so much.. also, i read aames book and he said the two of them had a quick affair filming this movie. but once she got back to the city she broke it off.. and she was mad it wasn't a big hit.. i give her a slight pass, she was really young and making alot of money modeling..

I bought his book (used, cheap) solely to read anything about this movie.
I wasn't surprised he fell head over for her. Also wasn't surprised that she was the one who started ghosting him afterwards.

As far as her being stuck up and a diva- I can only imagine how tough women (and girls) have it. Plain and you're ignored. Cute as hell and you must get hit on every hour and constantly have to be rebuffing aggressive a-holes, as well as sophomoric wet noodles and everything in between. Or else needing to vet people's motives constantly. That applies to both men and women as far as motives. Women don't always treat high value rivals kindly.
I can totally understand her giving up this life relatively early on and opening a boutique. I'm only surprised more stars don't go that route.
