I feel this way about any sales chart I don't stand to profit from. Music, books, video games, etc. But I see people getting so worked up over it, like they're the ones making millions from it. They're more excited than actual investors reaping the benefits.
1) There are people who find the financial aspects of movie-making to be genuinely fascinating. It's fun to speculate about budgets, talk about opening weekends, predict drops from week to week, compare total earnings and calculate profits.

2) Like John1701D, if you're a fan of a movie/franchise and you want more of it, it's essential for that movie/franchise to be successful, and so it makes sense for you to be aware of its performance and be happy when you get more of what you like.

3) Bragging rights on the internet against opposing fandoms and detractors .

Only 3 separate threads for this hidden gem, I think we need a couple more: Deadpool & Wolverine - The Awards Thread and Deadpool & Wolverine - The Easter Eggs thread.

3-400million is my guess. People don't watch movies in cinemas like they used to. Some of the best movies flops. I have no faith in this. I hope I'm wrong, because I loved the movie!

it should make close to 400 million worldwide this weekend alone. Its hard to say how strong the legs will be but in comparison, I honestly think it does close to what Spiderman No Way Home does which was a little over 1.9 billion or complete opposite where it doesn't make break a billion. Both movies relied on nostalgia and fan service and got people excited from two/three generations to see it. But I do agree with people not going to the movies anymore because of inflation and a terrible economy. Its a luxury more than ever these days to go to a movie for a lot of people. Also this being rated R takes away a lot of younger kids from seeing it. I had a 9-10 year old with his dad in my showing and they walked out after the first 10 mins and they didn't return. Guessing the blood and cursing was too much for the dad to deal with.

For the audience attendance in theaters, this will do well, but it's not going to draw in families to go see it understandably, so it's not going to be as big as Avatar, which has a wider audience range.

That's just another way of saying that it's going to break records for an R-rated movie...

Having Wolverine's Jackman in the film as a major character role (not a cameo) was a big boost to an already popular Deadpool character, so it's like a double bill combination in one movie, increasing fan interest to see it in theaters to support it.

Fans of Wolverine Logan/Jackman
+Fans of Deadpool

= Double amount of fans.

I need to remove my vote. I totally read the poll wrong, as well as the units. I was hearing "opening weekend box office," and when I selected $2+ billion I was thinking "over $200 million." Big whoops.

Either way, after seeing this, I'm still comfortable shooting for the low end of the $1.5 - $1.9 billion range. This ain't catching No Way Home at $1.916 billion, though.

Note to all that this is getting a China release.
