Who's the proper rights-holder here? I could see a blu ray maybe trickling out, but for a uhd, this smells perhaps a bit too much like wish-list fodder.....?

One of his only movies I haven't seen (along with his first two, pre-Sixth Sense), probably only because I don't know anything about the IP so it was never on my radar at the time.

...possibly? Maybe? On sale if there's still a slip? Just to give it a try.

But I'd rather get Sixth Sense, Signs etc first. Village is a definite buy for me. Always liked it.

You are not missing out with that film. I love the animated show. But the film is Dragonball Evolution levels of infamy.

The single most mind-boggling absence in HD formats.

I was genuinely starting to think it'd never see the light of day.

My last watch of the movie was on DVD, over 10 years ago. Been holding out since then in hopes of a Blu-ray.

This, Sixth Sense, Signs, and even Lady in the Water… and I’ll be a happy camper

What about Todd Field's first two films? In The Bedroom and Little Children still are not in HD, while his third film (and last so far) is on 4K blu-ray (Tár)?

Don't mainstream horror-adjacent films like The Village tend to sell better compared to award-winning dramas? While those Field movies surely should have been available long ago as well due to their quality and prestige, I think a big-grossing thriller like The Village would have been a no-brainer Blu-ray release for the studio, and yet, for some reason, it wasn't.

Not a bad movie but this getting a 4K release before Signs is criminal.

A non-franchised Disney production from twenty years ago getting a belated high-def release...?

I love The Village. We can talk about how badly it was mismarketed all day, but I feel it was an excellent debut in a lead role for Bryce Dallas Howard, & I think the soundtrack is among James Newton Howard's best work.

Give me all the 2000s Shamaylan

The Abyss and True Lies were more mind boggling I would think, but since they've finally gotten a release this year, The Village is defintlty up there at the top.
