I haven't seen this one, but I have seen the Al Pacino one from the 80s.

'83 is the better adaptation* imo. It expanded the themes from this movie.

*Both are based on the book so the '83 movie is not a remake.

It’s very clearly based on this film. The end credits even pay tribute to Howard Hawkes and Ben Hecht without even mentioning Armitage Trail or his novel. The whole idea for it even came after Pacino saw the film. I’d be surprised if anyone involved in the DePalma film even read the book.

The book is very different from both versions of the movie.

It's a sale month, so that does soften the blow. Their whole November slate will be half-off

Protag of original is too much of a little *****, because filmmakers had to go out of their way to condemn the mob. Feels almost like a public service message as much as a movie.

Yes, is this a newer scan or the same one though? I know the press release states a new scan but many companies state "new" for scans done within the past few years. I am guessing though that it got a new scan but also not sure why they wouldn't state the year along the lines of "From a New 2024 4K scan" or something.
