Preordered the box set. Looks amazeballs, just hope it actually comes out by Halloween. We all know SS by now. Nothing ever comes out on time.
Would KILL for a Book of Shadows directors cut someday.

I personally loved the movie as-is...but it's nothing like what the director wanted or intended. So so so much studio interference.

STREET DATE 10/28

I'm OK with a little lag time since this is a UK release, what I'm hoping not to see is some issue popping up that might cause an extensive delay.

They must’ve just copy/pasted the date from Late Night with the Devil. November 11 is the release date for this set, per Second Sight.

Pre-ordered with the quickness. I kinda wish it was 4K just to be region free even though the Blu-ray should be able to capture all of the detail.

I went standard though as I'm quickly running out of space and I don't have room for big box stuck. Combined the order with Late Night with the Devil 4K and Seven Samurai 4K from OrbitDVD.

Went with Grindhouse Video because their price was the same as Orbit's (neither were charging sales tax). Both were a couple of dollars cheaper overall than Diabolik. Had an iffy experience with Orbit before but Grindhouse has always been great for me.

This is the first time I'm buying a release that I know I can't play (I'm not currently region-free), but I can't miss this. The Blair Witch Project is in my top 5 horror movies... probably top 3. And some day I'll go region free and be able to watch it in the way it should look.

2-disc edition includes restored and remastered Original Theatrical Cut and Festival Cut plus original-release version

Is this saying that there a 3 versions of the film? The original theatrical cut, festival cut plus original release version? Also I've never heard of the 'festival cut' before! Can someone enlighten me?!

Original release version is the previously available version of the theatrical cut, before the restoration.

I want to thank @SecondSightFilm for the incredible love and attention they have given this release.

This edition marks the FIRST TIME the movie has been properly transferred and released in the way it was intended to be seen! If you want to know how or why, keep reading.

In 1999, theatrical films didn't originate on video, so there was no codified process for putting them out on video. So they did it like all films back then: They transferred the 35mm negative to video.

Unfortunately, the 35mm negative is NOT the actual camera negative. As a result, the version released for all forms of home video is incorrect. The colors, the motion, the strange rounded corners, it didn't look like a home video, and it didn't look like film.

This is the FIRST (and for the immediate time being) the ONLY edition of the film to be properly transferred for home video release. It finally looks the way it did to us when we were editing the film. The way we wanted it to look.

In fact, if theaters had been able to project video in 1999, then THIS transfer would have played theatrically! The 35mm print was a step we had to take due to the technology of the time.

Over the last 25 years, the film has felt unfinished to me could see it the way it was intended to be seen; as a true "found footage" experience, it now looks the way it always should have.

I know many will be upset that it is Region B. I WISH it were all-region, but contracts and legal stuff prevent that. That said, THIS edition COULD be released in the US. That decision belongs exclusively to @Lionsgate or @LionsgateHorror.

If you don't have a region-free player, I suggest you contact @Lionsgate directly and ask them to release this version of the film.

In fact, I hope they will use this transfer to make a DCP and screen this version in theaters from now on.

I hope this version becomes the definitive version that shows up on streaming. The old transfer is currently on @peacock, in the wrong aspect ratio, no less! But that's all up to @Lionsgate.

For now, I'm going to mangle a quote from Rustin Parr: "It's finally finished." And you can see it come November 11.

I was confused too initially. It's 2 cuts of the film.
Remastered edition of the theatrical cut + the original release version, which is basically the theatrical cut with the old mastering. I was told they are adding it only for completiness sake.
The festival version is the longer version they submitted to festivals and that was screened in Sundance before the film was acquired by Artisan Entertainment.

Says nothing about a new 5.1 sound or Dolby Atmos like the later film had.

Crazy timing on this one! I woke up in the middle of the Night and decided to check out ebay and saw a great deal for a 5 Second Sight LE Lot.. An hour or so later I seen this and Late Night released.. Looks like i'll be buying a total of 7 SS releases today whenever Atomic gets theses new ones listed

Nice to see that Pittides did the artwork as i've really liked a lot of his work over the Years.. I can see this grow on me as it already has a bit since I saw it early this Morning and at least fits the tone of the Movie. I just seen his post in insta as well talking about it and saying he will throw up the original art for sale which I can live without but just seeing the original inks is still kind of cool.

Yes, Atmos track is what BWP, shot mostly on video movie with a budget under $1M, needed

Even though it wasn't as intended, I'm glad they are including the original transfer for completionist sake. Maybe someone is nostalgic for it. At this point, physical media should be delivering ultimate editions and this looks to be the case here.

Got my pre-order in with Rarewaves, as I had another title to order, plus a £10 reward to use. I am still interested in the Imprint set for the second film, but I'm waiting to see what the additional TBC special features are before pulling that trigger. Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on this Second Sight set! I'll always have strong memories of watching BWP at a midnight screening on opening night and being totally terrified afterwards. It definitely helped shape my love of horror!
