Default New Order

A taut, topical true-crime thriller, The Order is Kurzel's most accomplished work since Snowtown, or at the very least an equal to his take on Macbeth. Law and Hoult are both terrific, as are the brief but memorable appearances by Marc Maron as Berg and Victor Slezak as Richard Butler. The rest of the cast is solid, as is the screenplay, and the technicals are superb, the cinematography by Kurzel's long-time lenser Adam Arkapaw, the soundtrack by his brother Jed.

A few minor quibbles here and there, but for a film that was shot in less than a month with a low budget, it was an intense ride and a very worthwhile watch, the type of film from previous decades that would eventually attain greater appreciation thanks to a larger audience garnered by positive word of mouth.

I did not like the anti-gun message of Nitram, but I enjoyed it very much. It was not as good as Snowtown.

I'm excited to see The Order.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I purchased my copy from Walmart for $14.95 plus tax. The slipcover is pristine. Score!

I just finished watching The Order...and I think that it is an excellent picture. The climax was incredible. 9/10.
