About. Damn. Time.
Fong Sai Yuk is top-tier Jet Li awesomeness and comedy gold. Even my wife actually enjoys this one with me! The 2nd certainly doesn't match the quality, but super happy to get both on UHD. And those covers from Kung Fu Bob looks superb! Can finally retire my old non-anamorphic DVDs. What a glorious year to be a Jet Li fan - pretty sure I started 2024 with just 1 Jet Li film on UHD and going to end with a whole bunch of MASSIVE upgrades. |

now if we can get the Swordsman trilogy (Li is fantastic in number 2) - that would be something.

Both Fist of Legend and Bodyguard from Beijing looked incredible in UHD, can't wait for Tai Chi Master, and oh- here's the pre-order link for The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk Collection on DiabolikDVD's Website!

I vividly remember buying this as a child on bootleg VHS tapes (split across 2 of them as was common) just after it came out. Everyone I showed it to thought it was the bollocks. This will be about my 4th dip - me as a teenager would have been in awe at my middle-aged self kicking back to a UHD of this brilliant, brilliant film. Nothing came close to this and OUATIC from this particular "wires" era, if you ask me*. Another lovely job, Bob. RIP Yuen Kwai. *Okay maybe Iron Monkey. |

Super pleased to hear about this release, as these were the two Jet Li films I wanted to have in decent form more than any others. Finally I can replaced my VHS recordings I taped off, I think, Channel 4 decades ago XD

I rented that 2-tape video myself, watched it over and over, and also showed it to my wife who loved it. I thought I might have been the only one. ![]() ![]() Thank you. I 2nd IRON MONKEY being in the same level as those. My lady and I tend to quote lines from Lone Wolf and Terry Tsurugi. |

Don't think I've seen these movies before, I recognise the american title/cover but that's it. Is it much like OUATIC or a bit more action heavy?

The FONG SAI YUK films are not nearly as serious in tone (featuring some very funny scenes) as the ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA films and feature lots of wild action scenes. They are among my most rewatched early '90s Hong Kong films.

How did they manage to get that horsefall past the BBFC?

I asked the same in the 4K thread. With Burning Paradise - another one with an incredibly obvious fall front and centre on screen - also getting through I do wonder if the BBFC are starting to realise cutting 50+ year (using that purely as a catch-all) old horse falls is a pointless errand. I know Burning Paradise is a slightly different case and is historical and some have posited that it may not have been resubmitted since it last went through, but even so it seems very odd that two HK films with vivid horse falls have both escaped the scissors in the last 6 months. And, unlike Burning Paradise, the Fong Sai Yuk UK DVD was cut.

Is the UHD set just UHD or UHD + BD?

It's a lot more fun to watch than OUATIC, as I recall. I think if someone put a gun to my head and told me I could only recommend one of the two to someone who has never seen a Jet Li film before, I'd say FSY every time.
