An incredible movie and DreamWorks BEST accomplishment since Shrek.

It deserves a Criterion release.

Same typical minimal featurettes (more promo than anything insightful) that Universal and Dreamworks always put out. At least the audiocommentary is the most interesting.

Would love a colorful Steelbook for this. One of the best films of the year in my opinion.

I wouldn't count on it, Dreamworks steelbooks are few and far between unfortunately. Puss in Boots 2 was not only a franchise movie but a commercial/critical hit, and it didn't get one.

Also, German Amazon has a release date of December 19th set for their BD

In Spain it will arrive only on Blu-ray and without extras or extras without subtitles in my language. The American UHD will bring Latin Spanish both in the film and in the special features, so I have no reason to support Universal Spain/Arvi Licensing, for my part I will import the American UHD.

Universal City, California, October 14, 2024 – Continuing to bring families together in theaters, and hailed as “one of the best animated films of the decade” (Roger-Ebert) that is “destined to be a classic” (Collider), DreamWorks Animation’s THE WILD ROBOT arrives exclusively on digital platforms to own or rent tomorrow, October 15, 2024, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. An adaptation of Peter Brown’s award-winning, #1 New York Times bestseller, THE WILD ROBOT is an epic adventure staring Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o (Us, the Black Panther franchise) as Roz, a robot that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must adapt to the harsh surroundings. Gradually Roz starts building relationships with the animals on the island, including a clever fox voiced by Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian), and becomes the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling named Brightbill voiced by Kit Connor (Ready Player One, Heartstopper). THE WILD ROBOT is a powerful story about self-discovery, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature, and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things.

Directed by three-time Academy Award® nominee Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, The Croods), THE WILD ROBOT features an incredible supporting voice cast alongside Nyong’o, Pascal and Connor, including Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Rango), Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fall Guy), Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise), Matt Berry (“The IT Crowd”, “What We Do in the Shadows”) and Ving Rhames (Mission Impossible franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). Showcasing music by Emmy® and Grammy® nominated composer and Oscar® winner Kris Bowers, the film also boasts two original songs by Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter and music sensation Maren Morris.

I think this should just be a 4K-only release as Universal seems to stop doing combo packs on the regular Blu-ray. TBH, including the standard Blu-ray disc is a bit pointless because all of the special features will be on the 4K disc.

It’s been a thing for awhile that allot of studios include the prior format in kids movie releases specifically, even when they stop generally doing combo packs, it just gives better options for when and where a kid can watch the movie compared to what may only be one device in a home for the newest format.

Are you for real? Combo packs are always preferable to non combo packs. If I'm paying MSRP for a 4K movie, I want the standard Blu-ray too. The 4K-only releases aren't any cheaper.

It doesn't cost $39. Amazon's price is $29.95, which is where you said that you pre-ordered it from in another thread.

You had to pay $6.99 for shipping because your order was under Amazon's free shipping threshold of $35. The product page tells you what you need to spend to get free shipping. The shipping cost is on you and it has nothing to do with the price of this 4K disc.

So another upscale from a 2k master, huh?
Not that they can't look great, they absolutely can. But I wonder if Dreamworks will ever upgrade to native 4k.

How do we know it's an upscale from a 2K master? IMDB tech specs don't list a resolution, and I don't see anything in the press release about it either.

So generally I'm so for on live action I always skip animation to the point its been the Monsters Inc and Incredibles original movies since I sat down and tried to watch a kids - family - animation movie. Until now....I am not able to se e this in theatres sadly but it looks amazing - I will, WILL be buying the 4k. This may start a trend with me at back tracking other good ones (that I hear) like How to Train Your Dragon, etc. I'm stoked for this.

Wow, what an amazing movie. Gorgeous, full of extremely likeable characters and touching. Roz is the best robot character since Wall-E.

I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The animation was beautiful and once the possum 6/5 joke hit I was fully onboard for it.
