Maybe the existing BD set of Yojimbo and Sanjuro will drop in price. Especially the used BDs, for those upgrading to 4K.

Kagemusha is owned by Fox in North America, so don't expect that one anytime soon.

Greatest announcement in a long time would have been the big Kurosawa box with some of the movies also having UHDs. Could have had the director on the cover instead of these pretentious individual covers which don't have the adventurous spirit of the movies or old posters and barely say anything. Drawback would be annoying sleeves (because it's Criterion), but the individuals are most likely coming in fragile cardboard cases, digipacks, so what are we losing? Guess we can't have it because of how Toho licenses out movies. Or maybe Criterion thinks people would not want a collection with only some on UHD. That's dumb.

Just when I thought I was not getting any Criterions they do this and Winchester '73. I may get Seven Samurai too even though I am getting the BFI edition.

I thought I'd been holding out upgrading my old Kurosawa DVDs to Blu-rays in hopes of a big boxset.

But maybe it was just to skip a format and do UHD.

The Toho 4K Yojimbo is one of the best they've done, second only to High and Low for me. I'll pick this up and flog the Japanese copy.

How about movies we haven't even seen on blu ray yet, like Samurai Rebellion instead? Harakiri has a pretty great blu ray already.

Oh boy did these need remasters, those old BDs are incredibly dated now

What we need now is Red Beard, that never even got a BD

Who brought up Seven Samurai I said it'll cost $5 more than the BD set during sales (B&N 50% off or Criterion Flash sales)

Blu-ray MSRP: $70
4K MSRP: $80

Blu-ray 50% off: $35
4K 50% off: $40

$40-$35 = $5 difference
