Well, the royalties they would have lost with DVD (eventually) really caused them to pursue making their own format. They just needed an excuse. The caddy and the production costs excuses served them well.

Reading those stories reminds me of why I despise Toshiba. And announcing no support for Blu-ray at their surrender speech did nothing to assuage my anger. Toshiba, why don't you go back to selling top secret submarine secrets to our enemies?

I think it's hialrious all the comments the hd dead fanboys are saying about BD not being the 'best consumer choice' and how hd dead was the far better format.
