IIRC this was finished as a 2k DI and will likely use the same HD master making the rounds elsewhere. Not a big enough title to warrant a new master from a filmout.

I can't wait for January to watch this. And now I cannot find my US DVD. I still have hundreds of DVDs and BDs stacked on the floor and some are hard to reach. Can someone direct me to a place where I can see the spine of the US DVDs, it would help me track this down.

Indeed. There are plenty of low budget cult movies with 2k and 4k scans out there from boutique labels. A studio catalog title with a name still relevant like Ryan Reynolds is pretty different. I'm usually more surprised with movies say 70 years old and onward that aren't massively well known like a Wizard of Oz. There are so many WB Archive releases that I've never heard of. As time goes on the pool of people who have seen them is probably getting more and more limited other than really diehard classic cinema buffs as most people generally don't watch movies terribly far beyond their birth year and especially not multiple decades. Even the 90s is usually met with a blank stare when I talk pop culture with anyone Gen Z.

Default Finally!

So happy for a US Blu of this underrated comedy. Faris is hilarious as the crazy singer, his relationship with his brother just makes me giggle, and Reynolds is humorously frustrated.

The Canadian is 1080i with underwhelming PQ, and my 9-year-old German Blu is Region B which of course delays startup when I want to get to the movie!

A Christmas favorite.

Why couldn't this get a 4K transfer? Regardless, I'm upgrading from an ancient DVD on Day 1. Just kinda bummed that it didn't get released before Christmas.

I’m guessing it wasn’t cost effective. I’m fine with Blu Ray, 4k is always welcome but not necessary for Just Friends.

Looking forward to picking this up. Assume preorders should be put up very soon.

No preorder just yet and it comes out in 3 weeks. Does Warner Archive usually do orders on day 1 on their page? I haven't ordered from them yet so I don't know?

Where are you getting this information? We are 1 week out and still no pre-orders up that I could find.

That's exactly why I'm speculating that it'll be delayed. If it was still coming January 28th there likely would have been pre-orders up for it already like the other announced titles that have them.

Was looking forward to this, though it's always a November/December watch for me, so I suppose the wait doesn't make much of a difference.

Hoping I am completely wrong here, but I am pretty sure this release may potentially be cancelled.

A friend of mine asked 'The Extras' podcast for an update. They responded that there is a reason it isn't available for pre-order, but they can't say why just yet. My friend pushed further and asked if it was cancelled, or if it was safe to look out for a new release date, for which he was completely blanked.

As a betting man, my money would be on this getting cancelled. Crap if so, as this was long over due a decent Blu Ray. Again, not confirmed, but not looking good based on that either.

Thoughts?
