Lucas always wants the best of what each format has to offer. Will likely want to re-remaster all the original movies and possibly update effects yet again. I wouldn't be surprised if he edited the movies yet again. Because he demands such a high quality I don't think he is that bothered about launching his titles on yet another format.

Spielberg is a bit easier to please. Most of his movies just get generic treatment of the highest quality and ships them out of the door.

The sad thing is that all the computer generated environments and characters made the movies less realistic than the original 3.
I with you all the way! Those were crap and I think he ruined the series with those. As for the original 3, Those will probably look amazing! I also hope they have branching with the special editions AND the original.

What about this:

The Twilight Zone: The Movie

Spielberg will release his movies on BD if he gets the chance to do it. "Close Encounters" and "The Twilight Zone: The Movie" are those he can do for now.

We know he can have his movies on any HD format he wants, but ever wonder why still no release of his Universal/Paramount movies? It's because he has respect to the studios, IMO.

With the current development, it will be easier for him.

As for George Lucas, he already did a poll about Star Wars on hi-def.

Twilight Zone was a Warner release, and is also out on HD DVD. (D'oh!) It isn't a full movie directed by Spielberg... he just did one of the four segments. So it's not considered a "Spielberg Movie" exactly.

true, it wasnt a huge title that flew off the shelves but if I remember correctly, I read on this site that it performed above expectations (whatever that means.) Can someone assist me in helping me find that thread somewhere?

as for me, I love the movie but I have not bought it yet. I am still trying to get over the garbage packaging that will look goofy on my shelf! haha

Hey, any chance the Indy trilogy will hit blu ray when Crystal Skull does in the Fall? Or no? Do they even have enough time for it that soon?

I remember there was talk he would actually redo Yoda on EP. 1 with the digital version in EP 2/3 to make him more consistent. With the films in digital form, I would guess that would include the elements, so he could piece back the elements and make the effects cleaner but that definitely would take some time.

I am betting that Spielberg releases the entire Indy trilogy when Indy IV comes out in the Fall. I don't see him holding back to much on his releases.

George Lucas on the other hand, I think he will wait until there is a certain percentage of households with BD first, almost guaranteed.

I"m quite certain that all of the digital yoda stuff for episode I has already been completed. I"m almost postive I read a quote from Rick saying that. I was under the imperession they were saving them for the 30th anniversary, but those dvds got scrapped due to poor sales of the 3rd DVD release (the ones with the letterboxed theatricals).

I'm postive that the digital Yoda will show up for the eventual Blu release.

I'm just worried we'll have to wait for the 35th anniversary (2012)

Talk over at HiDef Digest where a conversation occurred with SS assistant commented on Jurassic Park and Jaws may be coming first.
