Deep Blue Sea 4K UHD (1999) (Arrow Video)

Ordered directly from Arrow, which I've never done before. I don't think I've read anyone complaining about them. A fun romp which should look great in 4k.

I was also hoping that this would get a 4K. I'm a little bit disappointed that the original ending wasn't included, (Maybe there's some further issue holding that up?) but I am happy to be upgrading from my old blu-ray to this. Already pre-ordered from Diabolik.

That hardbox art is a big yikes for me, but I'm beyond thrilled this is getting the Arrow 4K treatment, regardless. One of my most rewatched guilty pleasures.

Like the guy said above, this WB gives me hope for those Shane Black films - Long Kiss Goodnight, Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Last Boyscout. Especially if they can give Demo Man and DBS this kind of treatment.

I was browsing on Orbit DVD yesterday and saw that they had copies of Long Kiss Goodnight up in the Imports section, which seemed kind of random. I always get the feeling these random drops are old stock dumps in anticipation of a re-release. Diabolik does this too sometimes. Fingers crossed.

The front cover, which is just an artist's rendering, says "HDR" but the press release doesn't mention HDR or Dolby Vision. Compare this with the recent "Demolition Man" announcement which states, "4K Ultra HD (2160p) presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible)." Could this be 4K SDR?

No, I'm pretty sure it'll have HDR. I don't recall a time when Arrow had an HDR label on their artwork and it wasn't included.

All of their press releases mention it. This one doesn't. I know it would be unusual not to have it, but it's also unusual not to mention it in the press release.

The new "Dressed To Kill" press release mentions HDR and Dolby Vision. So why doesn't "Deep Blue Sea?"

arrow replied to my question about the details not listing HDR and they replied back with, I asked them to update the page with the correct info but it's still the same so far.

In a test screening one month before the film's opening, the ending had Susan (Saffron Burrows) escaping the shark at the end and saving the day with the spear gun. Audiences booed that ending, and sure enough, it came out with Susan getting eaten

Yeah, doesn't sound like it will include the original ending. This would've been the perfect opportunity to include it as a bonus at least, especially with a boutique label like Arrow.
