Seems like it'd pair nicely with Cold Prey. Weird question, but I have a thing for cabins, especially in snowy movies. Do we get some cozy cabin atmosphere?

And when it comes to Beautiful Girls, I'm guilty of burning myself out on it despite still considering it an all-time favorite. I last showed it to a girl 2 years ago, I'm going to try to sit the rest of this winter out and hope that magic is rekindled in another year or two.

Yes mate there is. Perfect cabin in the winter atmosphere.

I hear you on Beautiful Girls. Near enough have the film memorised from watching it so much. As you said, hopefully a 4K will come along and rekindle the magic in a fresh way.

I’m pairing Iced with Blood Tracks tonight. Actually just finished Blood Tracks and now about to start Iced.

You still get a 9.5/10 for effort and style. Obviously the MGD would have got you the full 10 mate

Got mine today in the mail; gonna give this one a watch tonight. It's one of the obscure slashers that's been on my watch list for years. Was surprised when I opened the box from VS to find they'd included a replacement disc for Looking for Mr. Goodbar, which I ordered back in November. Good mail day.

Yep. Ken Foree, Gaylen Ross, Scott Reiniger, Tom Savini and Michael Gornick.

Also have a shadowbox with pieces of the mall and a production check from the filming of Dawn by George and a few other Dawn items.

The Living Dead Weekend con has been a great opportunity for meeting some of my favorite horror stars. This might be the last year for it since Walmart bought the mall.

Sorry, but I got sucked in, and took a chance & bought a copy. What a mistake. This is irretrievably awful. ICED is so bad it doesn't even go in my "so bad it's good" collection. It's just bad. I can forgive the bad video presentation. But the "story", the acting, the soundtrack, it's all just plain bad. What am I missing?

The reasons you listed in bold are some of the reasons it's great.

I haven't seen Iced so I can't speak to it specifically, but I have seen a fair number of VS movies that I just plain found awful with almost no redeeming values (ex, Sliver, Master of the World, Nightmares) that any attempt to question on this board just results in a bunch of people going "X is awesome." There's not really any "objective" reason it's good or even okay in some of those cases, there just are a bunch of people that for whatever reason like them a lot. It's the kind of thing where reviewers you're familiar with can really come in handy cause you can usually tell from their reaction whether you'd like it or not.

My suspicion is Iced is in the "dumb slasher" boat, where I usually like them if they move at a decent clip, have funny bad acting/dialogue, and have entertaining kills (ex, The Mutilator, Don't Go in the Woods, etc). If it includes more than one of those I'll usually have a good time. If it's missing 2-3 of those things or is particularly bad in at least one of the categories, then I usually either hate it (ex Sorority House Massacre) or just see no reason to ever rewatch it (ex Slaughterhouse, Cutting Class, Blood Hook) and it ends up in my sell pile.

I think a ton of people got caught up in the hype for this one and it is going to have a high number of people confused as to what the big deal is that end up trying to flip it on ebay since it sold out and is therefore "valuable." It was enough of a risky bet for me (and I'm too lazy to resell things most of the time) that I was comfortable missing the LE and waiting for a sale on the standard.

A VS subscription.... this kind of film is par for the course in their neck of the woods

I don't think anyone in these parts ever championed the film as a masterpiece, it's just a fun, cosy, absurd no-budget slasher flick. Not really sure what you were expecting.

Yes exactly. People need to do their due diligence before buying something. I've blind bought hundreds of films and never regretted one because I did research beforehand by reading multiple reviews, watching clips & trailers, etc. I've never bought a film because I "got sucked in".

I did my due diligence and saw this before buying it and it wasn’t even fun to me, which is what many of its supporters found it to be. It takes over an hour before anything exciting happens and then it ends. That is how I remembered it at least. I can forgive its other flaws (bad acting, zero budget) and I love snow setting horror but I just didn’t find it any fun. I’m glad its fans got this released though! If you blind bought it and didn’t like it, I’m sure you will find someone who will gladly take it off your hands!
