Champions have been in the comics for about a decade, it's not just Young Avengers. But they're similar. Young Avengers were just the kid knockoffs of the adults, Champions is them trying to be better and have more consideration for the collateral damage. It's not a surprise they're focusing on a recent thing after the Scarlet Witch retcon, plus some of them aren't kids anymore.

That’s not The Champions! The Champions in Marvel Comics are Hercules, Ghost Rider, the Angel, and Black Widow. Anything/anyone else is just a Disney wannabe bunch. Looks like it’d do gangbusters on The CW.

There's two Champions teams, the original from the 70s and this new version from 2016 where the Avengers teen counterparts decided to form a new team to try and be better than the adults after Civil War II.

Only Ms. Marvel and Ironheart were in the comics version though, but it makes sense to use the younger MCU counterparts as well, since most of the comics roster haven't been introduced yet.

I thought Feige said they were backing off on all the oversaturation but here we go with Iron Heart, Wonder Man, this... Whatever it is.

This won’t start shooting for another year, so it’s likely not coming out until late 2026 or 2027

Well they already filmed Iron Heart and Wonder Man so it would be kinda dumb not to just go ahead and release them. This is Disney, not Warner Bros.

I believe Iron Heart, at least, would cost them more money if they didn't release it due to contractual obligations.
Probably the same for Wonder Man, and it's assumed Echo was released to save money on fees as well.
