That's a shit load of extras missing. Lots of PiP.. yeah, this is gonna be compressed to hell.

Obviously the 4K will be the winner just for that, better compression, better colours due to HDR, even if an upscale. I wouldn't rule it out.

Not just are there hours of previously released extras internationally missing, but the 2016 Japanese release added another 3+ hours of newly produced extras that were never internationally licensed, so this is a major loss

Summer Wars wasn't too loaded either. I do wonder what's the reasoning for this. Toho didn't allow it? Too expensive and Gkids just wanted to make a budget release?

For me, it probably screams ''save them up for another re-release later, this license was too expensive, we gotta maximize it".

To their credit, Summer Wars did retain all the previously released internationally licensed extras, but there were still many exclusive to the 2 disc Japanese Limited Edition.

September 9th is very soon after Wolf Children, which will be out 4 months after Summer Wars. Wonder if they're trying to get it sooner to get The Boy and the Beast out soonish too, and maybe add Mirai 4K.

Still wish they had done standards with the matching GKIDS spines... but oh well.
