See my earlier post, but this is in line with other releases. The DVD version of House M.D. had 41 discs and the Blu-ray had 39 discs.

And Frank Tarzi corroborates the number of BD discs it would have been if they’d released it, in that interview.

This is a huge get! The DVDs look excellent (for DVDs) and the show was shot on film so I am anticipating that the series will sparkle. I doubt the 4 TV movies will be included, but here's hoping.

The movies were not included with the "Complete Series" set so it wouldn't surprise me if they get a separate BD release as well.

Hoping they don't slap on the same old cover art but make it pop a little more by sprucing it up a bit.

I worry a bit how much shelf space this will take as well as the price. But will still pick it up. Hopefully Dallas will get a release on BD.

The KL guy was smart to take into consideration how much time and resources it'd take to even finalize a set like this. Twelve seasons and each episode was an hour. That's an insane amount of material. I can't even imagine trying to watch that much tv content. And it'd probably be a nightmare for a small company like KL to produce. But I applaud any companies who can archive these shows. Even if I can't commit to watching them, there are people out there who can.

With 62 discs, I think it is possible the 4 movies will be included.

Each season had 21, 22, or 24 episodes, which works out to 5 discs per season (4 or 5 episodes per disc). So 12 seasons at 5 discs each is 60 discs, then the 4 movies would fit on 2 discs for a total of 62 discs.

Just watch an episode every night. Not difficult!

(I say this as someone who has an immense backlog… but all of those are feature length films, which are a FAR greater commitment for one sitting!)

Now those I think Kino can do (maybe throw in an alternate widescreen version as a bonus).

It's a shame they backed down on releasing the show, I'm sure they would've done wonders (or unless it would end up like Columbo).

The series is pretty easy to binge. Each episode is a self-contained story (except for the scattered 2 part stories) so you don't even have to watch them in order. You can also easily split the show in half. There is a tone shift when the show hits the 90's. They lean away from the "cozy murder" vibe established in the 80's and it becomes more of a soapy melodrama that Jessica has wandered into. They also flip from using old movie stars and established character actors for younger actors and modernized storylines.

You've got to be kidding. Absolute blessing that this is coming directly from Universal.
