I can see 10 years, but I can't see the tech and media companies allowing 20+ years before releasing the successor to blu ray. Too much money left on the table. Far better for them to change up the formats and figure out how to market it to the public in order to reboot the pricing scale to hit higher margins.

Blu should be safe for at least 10 yrs but when EVERYONE has a T6 connection @ around $20 a month well all bets are off. Right now downloads are not viable
because enless i can get blu quality with lossless surround for less on dl
without growing another year older it's a joke. Our high speed is frankly a joke
at this point-japan has a 30% faster connection than any of us and until speed
increases and costs decrease you're better off with blu.

HDD space would also become an issue because we'd need petabytes to burn
if we were purchasing blu quality on dl fast or not until then it's a renter's market at best.
