Thunderbolts should not be considered. It's not a part of the copyrighted Avengers films, and it is truly in name only. Many of us even joke that Civil War is Avengers-lite, and given the cast of characters we could argue that should be on the list if Thunderbolts is.
Also, Thunderbolts lacks an epic world-ending threat final act. There are marks in place for it, but not in the way that encapsulates an Avengers film. It also doesn't utilize an Avengers theme song during any battle. The team didn't fight under that name. I probably like Thunderbolts more than some Avengers films, but based on Avengers criteria I would easily place it at the bottom. If I included Civil War, it would be at the top. Otherwise, here are my rankings: Infinity War Endgame Age of Ultron The Avengers I just find the first film a bit too outdated for my tastes, and my sentiment at the time was Thor and Loki felt like cosplay (or how does Tony describe it, Shakespeare in the Park?). Joss Whedon really made it feel like it was made for television, and cinematic feel is important for me. Nothing gets close to Infinity War on this list though, and Endgame doesn't work without the 20+ films before it for the reasons I rank it where it is. |
