I spoke to the representative of HDFury x4 on another forum, he says he doesn't recommend using it for that with my setup.

Did he give you a reason for not recommending it?

If you need a 3D panel and can't find a TV or they're too expensive, try to get a 3D monitor. The 3D is fine, you can get either passive or active, depending on the maker, some were even marketed as TV monitors, the best of both worlds.
What's the model number of your Acer monitor? How big is it?

I have a Valerion StreamMaster Plus2 triple laser 4K projector. It's not their highest end model but gives me cinema-quality 3D on my bedroom wall.

That projector looks good but holy crap that price tag. If I could afford it, I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

It isn't cheap but I would say it's very good value - I paid more for each of my 3D TVs (apart from the 4K LED TV I bought used).

Oh well yeah definitely, it does the job and provides great cinema quality 3D so that's exactly what you want! One day for me perhaps, need to tighten the purse strings to save up.

I'm hoping Valerion will make a nice 3D project with short throw capabilities, as it would be perfect for my basement. The 1.2:1 throw ratio on the Valerian 13thman mentioned isn't bad, but I'm not sure if I could make it work. It definitely looks very nice though.
Will definitely be investigating all of this when the 3D OLED dies, but hopefully that won't be soon...

FWIW, the Pro models from Valerion have 0.9 ratio zoom. Not ultra short, but short!
