Since some people at Blu-ray.com watch mostly 4K Blu-ray discs with HDR and very little SDR content. For those people that watch mostly HDR content the Panasonic is a better display. Panasonic is the only display that has both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR. And the Panasonic Z95B series took first place in the HDR evaluation.
Quote “The HDR segment was hotly contested. Panasonic’s Z95B took first place in overall average, narrowly edging out Samsung’s S95F by just 0.01 points. Both displays won two of the four HDR categories. Sony finished third, while LG came in fourth.” https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...cs-tv-shootout |

The new Panasonic Z95B sets look promising but I have a few reservations after seeing the clips of the actual TV. I'm not too enamored of the speaker set-up as I and probably a good percentage of higher end flatscreen owners who are this sets target market already have some sort of external Home Theater audio set-up and have no use for the Panny's in-set audio. Good as the Panny's speaker set-up may be, even a low end external AV and 5.1 speakers will blow away the Panny's audio.
This leads to the second issue - the "fabric" grill that lines the outer edges of the TV just looks cheesy and cheap to me. From a design standpoint, this set is a throwback to more low budget LED TVs. The old Panny VT and ZT Plasmas aesthetically look much nicer. I like the swivel stand, but on first viewing, it's looks a bit too small to be stable, plus the set sits only a few inches up leaving no room for a center speaker or soundbar if anyone wanted that option. Finally, does the in-set speaker array and deeper housing for airflow significantly increase the weight of the TV? Is the 65" over 75lbs? The bottom line is picture quality which it appears is top of the line. Hopefully there's no wierd issues that crop up as consumers start getting this set in their hands. |

You make a good point about fabric. As far as the speaker system, it's not meant to compete with a dedicated HT setup. As you probably know, sound from flat panels these days is awful. The Panny is addressing that and the need for a soundbar which is pretty much automatic for anyone owning a tv these days.

I appreciate and share your feelings, but just wanted to add a little more information:
Panasonic's Z95B Multi-Stack OLED TV's built-in speakers that are attached to the bottom of the TV are just 2 1/4" in overall height for the 5 high-end premium Technics Speakers they have. Not only will everyone who uses Panasonic/Technics' Builtin 10 Channel w/builtin heights, and 3 subwoofers, and wide positioned premium speakers and processing & amplification and with Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Surround Sound love it! For folks with external audio systems, using the TV's builtin audio late at night when you don't want to bother anyone you will also love the audio fidelity and the excellent performance of the full Dolby Atmos & DTS:X audio! |

I like how back in the year 2008 Pioneer released the 60 inch PRO-141FD Elite Signature series monitor with no tuners and no speakers since it was a monitor only (and their most expensive display at around $7,000). They also had a 50-inch PRO-101FD that was the same way for around $5,500. My point is I wish the demand existed for Panasonic and other OLED companies to make a flagship monitors only with no tuner, no streaming apps, and perhaps no speakers. The display would be very thin without those items and the audio would come from 70% of the time A/V receivers or 30% of the time soundbars depending on what the customer wanted. Streaming would be from Apple TV, Google, or Roku Ultra in terms of 4K external boxes. And of course, one can hook up a ATSC 3.0 tuner, cable box tuner, or satellite receiver if they need to.
I just wish companies would try and market a high end very thin monitor only OLED screen. Possibly the demand does not exist for such a product anymore. For high-end projectors doing no speakers and no tuners and no streaming built in is still popular. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 08-08-2025 at 09:29 PM. |

Very ^^ good post!!
I frequently make the same recommendations to all of the TV manufacturers! Other than my telling them that most of the consumers that buy the high-end TVs have external audio systems. So if your company can also offer the flagship OLED TV with and without the built-in audio they will grab a huge % of the market! |

I have one for gaming..Alienware..it uses a Samsung QD OLED panel..it's not the same as a tv because the processing is done by the video card..AMD Ryzen 7 5700G...It also is slightly curved and has a 34 inch display. It is great but you must set it up to hide the task bar to prevent burn in.

Anyone looking for the best OLED screen for HDR content should strongly consider this new Panasonic OLED display. The Panasonic Z95B OLED series is the best OLED on the market in terms of overall picture quality when watching 4K HDR material from 4K Blu-ray discs and other 4K sources like 4K streaming, 4K cable TV, 4K satellite TV, and 2K/4K HDR from ATSC 3.0 over the air broadcasts. Panasonic is the only OLED that supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR.
According to spec sheet no NTSC analog tuner (not needed since cable TV and over the air broadcasts no longer have used NTSC for many years). However this Panasonic does have a built in ATSC 3.0 tuner which is ideal for a TV. But spec sheet does not mention any in the clear QAM tuner. If I was in the market for a new 4K OLED TV this Panasonic would be at the top of my list. I do not have time to watch TV right now, but I would like to purchase a 8K projector or 8K OLED screen sometime in the 2026-2028+ time frame to replace a almost 20 year old Pioneer plasma. Native 8K content might be coming in 2026-2028 but the 8K displays for second generation might cost at least twice as much as the 4K models until prices come down. |
