I saw that movie, and I forgot about her cameo appearance. Thank you for refreshing my memory.

Here are some examples where - to my mind - both film and performance emerged as memorable accomplishments:

HENRY V(1944-Laurence Olivier)
THE MOON HAS RISEN(1955-Kinuyo Tanaka)
Tanaka was the legendary star of some of Japan most celebrated dramas (like "Ugetsu Monogatari" and "Sansho the Bailiff") But "The Moon Has Risen", which she directed, was a charming romantic comedy. She plays a supporting role in it as a befuddled servant and is marvelously funny.
TIME TABLE(1956-Mark Stevens) a terrific under-celebrated noir
TOUCH OF EVIL(1958-Orson Welles)
ONE-EYED JACKS(1961-Marlon Brando)
YOYO(1965-Pierre Etaix)
PLAYTIME(1967-Jacques Tati)
DAY FOR NIGHT(1974-Francois Truffaut)
FOX AND HIS FRIENDS(1975-Rainer Werner Fassbender)
THE TENANT(1976-Roman Polanski)
ANNIE HALL(1977-Woody Allen)
UNFORGIVEN(1992-Clint Eastwood)
THE HOMESMAN(2014-Tommy Lee Jones)
A STAR IS BORN(2018-Bradley Cooper)
A REAL PAIN(2024-Jesse Eisenberg)

Burt Reynolds did a few, including one of my favorites...

I wish he directed a lot more.

I remember many of the battles of "Braveheart", as well as its music, but I forgot that Mel Gibson directed it. He must have quite a mind if he could not only successfully keep track of what he was saying and doing, but what thousands of other people were saying and doing as well.

He is a genius and unfortunately, like many geniuses, he is tortured by his demons, which are fueled by alcohol. It pains me to think of what could have been, had he lived up to his full potential. I am hoping he makes a comeback with his sequel to The Passion of the Christ.

He said it was so mentally taxing that he swore he would never act and direct the same movie again. He wasn't even supposed to star in Braveheart, but the studio couldn't find anyone they felt was as suitable for the role. It seems he feels compelled to break that pledge with Lethal Weapon 5.

I never knew that Mel Gibson was not the first choice to play William Wallace. Thank you for sharing that. If you think about it, when Mel Gibson directed "Braveheart", he had a bigger workload on his plate than William Wallace did hundreds of years ago, because William Wallace was only commanding one army, and Mel Gibson was commanding two armies. So I can understand why Mel Gibson would not want to act in and direct a movie with such a vast number of people again. I am sure "Lethal Weapon 5" will not have the same vast scope or vast number of cast members as "Braveheart".
