Should call 4K physical media Sean Bean with the amount of times it’s been proclaimed dead!

Nope, the selection is a joke. Almost no arthouse or indie.

C'mon. This isn't actually a thread is it? Blu-ray.com? Geeks-Are-Us for movies?

Sure, Kaleidescape is a thing, has been for years. But why?

Cheapest 4K player is 3 grand. 96 TB server is 30 grand(!). Really?

Dune HD Pro 8K Plus media player is $299. Best Buy has a Seagate 26 TB drive for $250 right now. Amazon sells a 4-bay HDD enclosure for under $110. Quick math, 104 TB storage and a box that plays full rips of 4K, Blu-ray and DVD, 4K MKV, and lots of other stuff under $1500.

30 grand buys a shitload of discs to put on those 100 terabytes.

I'll leave the unsaid bits unsaid.

C'mon. I thought you guys were smart.

There is no way it’s lossless video if ”only” 80-150 GB. It’ll be compressed just like e.g. 4K BD. Better than regular streaming, but not lossless.

Digital media can't replace packaging, some people collect for packaging over watching movies. There's a reason one clicks are so popular.

Did you just read what I said Cinema Smooth does on my TV? It enables 24 FPS playback.

Don't assume that just because "Smooth" is in the phrasing it means SOE. That feature on my TV is called Motion Judder Canceling (which is off, by the way).

If I want what I'm looking for, CS needs to be on. It is disabled when I stream. Digital purchases? Unsure.

Bring Her Back

Looking forward to The Descent soon from Lionsgate Limited.

I will get to 1000 UHD BDs this year .... I'm buying them like they are going out of style which they are actually not.

Kaliedescape will be an option someday if they don't go out of business (again like they did in 2016).

‘My prayer is there comes a buyer out of this,’ says Kaleidescape CEO Cheena Srinivasan, as iconic maker of home automation-friendly movie players runs out of money.

Unfortunately it’s up to the studios on the download part, not Apple. They don’t allow the digital retailers to let people download the 4K files, only HD. It would be nice if studios made digital copies available to download the same files they have on discs. Unfortunately they only put those digital copies on discs.

I despise fear mongering threads so much they're annoying, and make Collector's like us look like idiots even though they're the actual idiots every single time. Trying to cause panic every time with threads like this.
