Extras are nice, but I'm all for putting them on a seperate disc entirely, regardless of anything else.

Kinda opposite for me though :P

Either put everything on one disc or screw extras by not putting them at all.

Since these more technologically-sophisticated formats (compared to DVD), I would prefer that content would fit on one disc (and removed the old practice of splitting it into two or multiple discs like in DVD, SVCD and VCD)

That's my two cents.

I think the studios are currently assessing the HD market with their low-cost-to-produce titles or with corresponding for HD trial budgets. After reviewing actual sales data on these pilots they will be sure in the market readiness and will invest and then release big titles. The Sony is sure about the market already because of being in HD stake from the beginning and will probably release big titles sooner. The recently shot big titles are also cost lower to produce in HD than starting a new HD production project from scratch for old title or even such costs got to the movie budget at its budgeting stage

How about never? Simpsons and South Park are rendered and produced in very low resolution. There is absolutely no reason to put them on BD other than to put more than a single season on a disc, and I doubt they'd want to do that.

Rumors are that some newer episodes of South Park are in production HD testing for Comedy Central, but as far as when they'll actually appear, we don't really know.

Both are using software animation (yes, even South Park) so as long as the original files are backed up, they can fire them up and re-render. They can even re-render up to Imax resolution.
